If I do, I don't think it has much to do with me being Korean. Any move toward reunification would interest me, but not in a personal way, or at least not in an immediately personal way. I more find the idea of the two halves Korea sort of terrifying. I mean, so little land mass and so much tension and surrounding political interest. It's like the car wreck phenomenon.

I've never been made to have any personal stake in it, and not being totally Korean in the first place and not having any remaining relatives who I've actually met who are still actually citizens sort of eliminates any potential burning desire.

but you do have more interest in that than you do in, say, israel-palestine or whatever other troubled region, right? why would that be if not because you are part korean? granted, the two koreas are way more interesting to me personally and im not korean, but i would just naturally assume that theres something else going on there with you. consciously or otherwise, i guess is the point
i mean i dont really think about armenia often but, for instance, i was reading some book recently and came across a paragraph on armenia and it kind of instantly piqued my interest despite myself. i just think people naturally have this interminable desire to understand their roots or where they came from, and its hard to not feel as though its a part of you. like do you think all germans, no matter whether or not they have any direct lineage to anything nazi, dont think about the holocaust of hitler at all? its really hard to escape these thoughts. or maybe just for me, i dont know

but with regards to the koreas, theyve actually made some pretty big (on their scale) progress in the past few years, if youve been following. north korea is now, the analysts and facts support, moving in a direction similar to china in the early 90's, except with even more caution. slow, careful, tedious liberalization. and the south is doing good too. youve heard of south koreas "sunshine policy" right? i think thats the best idea ever, thats exactly the right approach

Well that's stupid because Chinese, Korean and Japanese aren't "races." That's not even the point I was making. I think the type of racists I hate more than confederate flag waving xenophobes are the people who are accidently racist, those who don't think they are being racist or even intend to be racist but are propogating racism anyway.
