Mason and I saw her at The Walker back in 2001 or 2002 or something. She did this interview/performance piece that was awesome. Of course she was inside a sack for half of it. There was this string that ran through everyone in the audience and we were all supposed to hold it. I think she audiographed Mason's copy of Grapefruit, but she might have signed his name instead...

Was it part of a Fluxus show or was it her own solo thing?

But I agree with the article in that it downplays the Beatles' genius and god-like status that they tend to have.

Oh, no, it was like a whole exibit spanning her entire career. So there was that maze thing, the famous "Yes" where Lennon first met her, booths showing all her films (the fly one was odd), and then the aforementioned interview/performance. I got to kind of meet her and I more just smiled and nodded, but she really seemed like a genuinely cool person.

The thing with the article is he seems to scapegoat the Beatles for the evils of the Recording Industry as a whole. And a lot of the shit he says, fucking blame Brian Epstien, not The Beatles. They just wanted to make records and fuck chicks, you know? Epstien was the one creating the merchandising empire and publicity giant...

But I'm bias, so of course I disagree with that wacky Italian.
