Default B-sides

Is it just revisionist of me, or did the overwhelming amount of b-sides amaze and bring a rich character to the band. It was a place the band could experiment and do things that didn't make the 'perfect album'. but these wonderful b-sides deserved their place. I love them as much (if not more) than the albums. it's like loving the rejects and the outsiders.

on the heels of Piscies Iscariot turning 30, I hope the band catches wind of this. Gimme 20 cyr b-sides. and another 33 ATUM b-sides. I'll adore them. Gimme another dozen AMM outtakes. I promise I'll love them like my own babies.

absolutely -- TAFH is my favorite record, hands down; QAOS is incredible, the gravity demos is an incredible incredible record by itself - and i think maybe only like 40% of those tracks made MCIS

i'm very excited to hear the AMM outtakes on the 7". as much as i'm trying to vibe w billy on the new stuff i'm sure those'll be incredible and shouldn't've been cut

My favorite SP Disc is the second disc of the Pisces Reissue, so I can sympathize with this

Agreed. The b-sides confirmed to younger me that there was secret knowledge within the band's canon.

And in general, it's always great when a band manages to record a lot of songs at their peak. That's not a given. There are 56(!) finished songs on TAFH and MCIS from that period alone. It rocks

I miss b-sides. They really did help to complete the picture of a band; album songs are one thing but b-sides is where you really got to know them.

There's no place on an album for Soothe, or Spaced, but I'm happy they are in our lives.

The combined output of quality MCIS/TAFH tracks from 94-96 is an unparalleled feat in rock

Kids today will never know the thrill of hunting record store import sections in search for elusive b-sides, and the thrill of finally finding what you were searching for.

Paying $30 in 1999 dollars for the Japanese Today single so you can listen to "Apathy's Last Kiss" on your stereo.

It made me appreciate the songs so much more. I spent $20 to have "French Movie Theme," you can bet your ass i was going to force myself to listen to that song and get my money's worth.

Always loved hunting the B-sides, all the bootlegs, live stuff, etc etc. I used to read the songlist/bootlist on spfc like it was a football sticker book (got, got, got, need, need, got).

Plus it helped that Billy was pretty weird with picking the right songs, which meant what you found in the B-side chest was often really fucking good.

I didn't buy any of the singles before I had the albums, so it was so great to have the albums known inside out and THEN find there were more songs made from the same time as what you were hearing on the album.

I remember getting the single for Today and being blown away by Obscured, still one of my Top 5 SP songs. How could this band get any better?? This was after months of digesting SD. Then getting Cherub Rock and hearing Pissant and then French Movie Theme - ok that was a curveball.

Finally finding I Am One with the gold faces cover and hearing Starla for the first time - this is a b side?? What the actual fuck.

I don't think anything is as beautiful as the radio edits
