so if you go to preorder the download it lets you set the price for it

if you click the help icon it says "you choose" click again and it says "no really"

"£0.00" works fine

It's actually an interesting marketing strategy. The album is basically free for download as someone point out a few back. People can give them $20 or $5 or $0 or $300 -- whatever. The only thing they're putting a price on is for the vinyl/cd/bonus cd/book boxset which only the hardcore fans will buy. So it'll be interesting to see if they lose their pants trusting the fans to give them whatever they feel like giving and hoping to sell enough collectors boxsets to recoup costs.

Like most bands, the only time they make any real cash is with touring, but I'm sure they'd like to not take a loss on the record. If they're not on a label, they've paid for those recording sessions out of pocket. Also they probably have to pay for their website and the server to allow the record downloads out of pocket.

I'm sure RH doesn't need the $$, but I'd hope enough people would buy their CD + "donate" for the download that they at least recoup expenses.

at least they are allowing their fans to get the album for free without having to steal. kinda funny. i bet a lot of major labels are pretty pissed right now thinking of the money that couldve been made off this record.

Radiohead's last two albums have barely went gold, which is considered the major label break even point. I don't think the majors are climbing all over themselves to sign Radiohead.

awesome i was hoping they'd do a studio version of last flowers. a little bummed there arent more tracks that we havent already heard live, but i like all the live stuff. jigsaw falling into place should be open pick, dont know what mk1 and mk2 are. i guess burn the witch didnt make the cut. in rainbows is a weird fucking album title.

atease will be getting flooded for a while.

I consider the songs I've heard to sound the most like Amnesiac. Reckoner is a major rocker left over from that era. Nude (aka Big Boots) is an OK Computer left-over.
