Posted 2 songs from a new thing i'm working on, which is my idea of a modern look at 1950s based rock and roll guitar projects.

But it's not throwback music where the things that matter most are vintage clothes and haircuts. It's the sound that has had men clawing out their eyes for 65 years. This is dangerous and desperate music filled with blown speakers and sexual innuendo, broken hearts and loud guitars.


Side A ("Be Mine") is a syrupy repetitive ballad, the kind that has the singer begging for love. Presented here as a scratchy whisper instead of a full vocal booming with confidence. Probably would not a good choice for an A-side. Ascends with a guitar solo.
Side B ("In The Dark") starts off with an electric country blues lick before having the channel switched to a full band speaker shredding guitar workout, in the tradition of so many instrumental b-sides.

The guitar outro in this first track is really cool, reminds of of the uncut version of Drown.

in my head i'm trying to make something where it's like back in the 50s when lead guitar players, who couldn't just make records of guitar playing, had to add usually one overdub to the songs to make them sellable, like either a gimmicky lead instrument or even a vocal. unfortunately that usually put their songs in the novelty category. it's that mentality mixed with a half century of punk, post-punk, and noise music.

i would would like it more if the lyrics/vocals were way wordier and more literate. from what i've seen/heard, the music is a perfect backdrop for you to shove information down the listeners throats

sort of like the Fall, but coming from a different perspective.

i think my current favorites to sing are "No Fun", "Cop Guts in My Cup", and "Jesus Supports Capitalism". The latter was working-titled "Consume" but it sounded way too one-word-title-angry-metal and we are trying to annoy people not be super serial like all the dudes who were in the audience.

cop guts in my cup is one i really like too. i dont know what i pictured for your band, but you screaming out fuck the police over and over was not it
