I think you mix it up with Billy's Twitter account.
Billy's account description doesn't mention SP anymore.
He removed the SP link recently.
As far as I remember Mike never removed "Drummer for Smashing Pumpkins".

To be fair, smashing pumpkins fans are pretty fucking stupid. Why does anyone believe jimmy might be coming back. It's the stupidest theory I've ever heard.

Does this guy know more than we know?

Quote:
In fact, some bands—much to their surprise—walked away from the show with broad smiles on their faces. Bearcubbin’s Mike Byrne said he knew of SXSW’s soured reputation, and was bracing for tough times. (And this is coming from a guy who used to drum for the Smashing Pumpkins.) Luckily, Bearcubbin’ caught the attention of the Austin events website, Do512.com, which gave the band four extra sets amongst their official shows.

“It’s exciting to know that if you play well, something good can happen,” Byrne says. “This is what SXSW is supposed to be about.”

Mike not being part of SP anymore has been pretty obvious, I think.

There's a lot of wishful thinking. It seems clear that Mike and Nicole are no longer part of the band, and I guess it's also because Billy occasionally tweets Jimmy related things and that Jimmy doesn't hate him anymore.

I wonder though why Mike & Nicole haven't released a statement yet.
Why would they want to keep it a secret until Billy's announcement?

That's a good point. Unofficial gag order, maybe? Fuck, maybe they don't even know what's really going on for certain. They could be in the dark about it. Last thing we heard from Nicole was that SP was on hiatus.

Billy could pull a Robert Smith and just announce that the band is functioning as a 2 piece from now on without telling the others.

Getting Jimmy back into the band would be the logical thing to do, but this is Belly we're talking about. He'd sooner get one of the Jonas Brothers to reach out to younger audiences.

They weren't even in the studio together. Tyson Meade did that Kickstarter thing in order to finance a new album. Jimmy agreed to record three drum tracks. Quite a while later Nicole was asked to record vocals for one song. It was just a coincidence that Jimmy recorded a drum track for it.

I hope there is another super embarrassing drumming competition for the new drummer.

That's fair I guess but I still don't see it happening. At best SP becomes a billy solo studio project and JC contributes drums to a song or two.

Looks like Billy finally caught up to Pitchfork.

It would be pretty amusing if the announcement is that Billy is turning SP into 2 a piece avant-garde project.

Nirvana was a fucking shoo-in. Realistically speaking, I think SP's chances of getting into the HoF are tenuous at best, especially on the first ballot. I don't think having Jimmy back in the band will change anyone's mind on the matter.

I just headed over to the O-board to hear what the fanboys were thinking of this announcement and I noticed that the Band picture on the homepage has been replaced with an image of a shamrock.

This has announcements GOTTA be to do with the line-up!

It obviously will be but what retarded smashing pumpkins don't realize is that "getting rid of old drummer" does not equal "getting a new drummer," let alone JC.

I'm guessing BC is finally finished with having a full time "band" (thank god). If anything it doesn't make sense for him in this stage of his career to keep the hired hands around full time. He doesn't need a drummer or a bass player to write songs at home.

writing songs is not a touring band - and didn't he say a while ago he was pretty much done with the idea of a touring band?

my point was why retain a bunch of hired hands now for an album that may or may not come out and be toured with in a couple of years?
