Default Billy's looking happy in NZ today

Been a little worried that Billy's fatigue or grumpiness might make for poor shows down under. We always get artists at the ass end of their tours and down in spirits (Radiohead in 98)

Anyway, there's an interview that was shot today that will air in a few hours (Nightline for those in NZ).

Just saw the promo, and Billy looked in good spirits. But he might be just on the post-customs cavity search high that all rock stars get down here

studies have shown that when people are pissed they perform better.

This might be true if we were talking about a live set that had a little more room for improvisation.

it was a short interview. No links or transcripts I'm afraid.

He looked cheerful, but he made the point of saying he was feeling depressed, something about fans telling him he was writing better songs when he was sad.

Talked about baseball (of all things)

Talked about the new Pumpkins, said that he didn't know what it meant about workin with the old members. Said he doesn't owe them anything, nor that they owe him anything. Emphasis on the former, obviously.

GOD DAMNIT, can we just have a straight out-and-out answer? i'm tired of this "chasing billy" syndrome that seems to be developing.

so is he saying he's feeling depressed BECAUSE fans tell him that, or he's purposely getting depressed in order to write "better songs" ? silly b0lly, try some pRoZaC

anyone else feel like they are being toyed with?

*sigh* still sticking with him tho... just can't help it

i dont agree with feeling sad means better songwriting. prolly just people identify more with that feeling is all.

How do you mean? Like he was surprised anybody even expected them to be invlolved? Or he doesn't know if they will be yet?

you're going, right Paul?

Stroke of luck - a friend of mine is doing the photography at the show tomorrow night, so hopefully I can get some good picks. And I know which hotel Bill's in, too, thanks to other contacts.

That he doesn't know if they will be there in the new band.

And that we shouldn't expect them to be just because they were in the old band

yeah.. I'm down on the floor. Had right bitch ass time getting tickets thanks to some light fingered courier.

You know anyone taping? I have a good friend who can't make it because she is busy in Nelson setting up her wedding. I'd love to get her a copy as a present.

Maybe...I know Ben's going (as I have his ticket here), and I'm guessing he's going to tape, but we haven't talked about it. And besides, I'm still waiting for the Muse show...

we're going to be in row b of the old folk's section.

Oh - also, If I can get some photos from my mate, I sure will post them.

Fingers crossed.

The St james is a good place for seating, there isn't really a bad seat in the house. But I saw Franz Ferdiand up there and was surrounded by nobs who were only at the show for the beer.

any idea on support acts. what time you think billy will be on?

afaik - doors open 7:30, the ticket says 8, but I'm guessing pre-bolly act - I was talking to my friend who's doing the photographing tonight, and he asked if I knew who the support act is. Seems the St. James people (as at 10am saturday) don't know the support bands either.
