Happy Mondays / MADchester
i was listening to 'the ongoing history of new music' on the radio last weekend and they were talking about the MADchester scene, and played Loose Fit by these guys. I thought it was an awesome song, so i'm trying to get some more Happy Mondays stuff off slsk.
so yeah, suggest songs please edit: from allmusic (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...1ug6j5h71e0~T1) Happy Mondays were one of the first rock bands to integrate hip-hop techniques into their music. They didn't sample, but they borrowed melodies and lyrics and, in the process, committed rock blasphemy. For a band that celebrated their vulgarity and excessiveness, Happy Mondays appropriately were undone by their addictions, but they left behind a surprisingly influential legacy, apparent in everyone from dance bands like the Chemical Brothers to rock & rollers like Oasis. maybe it's just me, but this sounds a litttle bitter. you can't go wrong with bummed or pills 'n' thrills and bellyaches. they're both pretty accessible albums if you're in to that particular sound. as far as individual songs i would say w.f.l., stinkin' thinkin', lazyitis, step on, harmony, holiday, god's cop. really if you want to get a feel for the band just download both albums. you can always delete them.

thanks for the song suggestions. i downloaded pills 'n' thrills last night and i listened through it once. it wasn't anything special, but there were a few songs i like. i'll probably listen to it again later and pay attention to the song names. i remember god's cop, i think, because i was posting about it in the now playing thread. it was an ok song. |
