Default house of cards season 3

anyone watching it?

i really expect to be disappointed. i like the other two seasons but it definitely isn't top level TV. i just watched the first episode so far and it was good though.

3 and a half in. I could watch Spacey and Wright do just about anything.

Plotting isn't always great but the writing and acting are really good.

just finished episode 13 (dem binge skillz...)

i mean... it was good. but still nowhere near season 1 where i was just blown the fuck away the whole time. the focus of this season was about clair and frank's relationship.. nothing wrong with that but some aspects of it (without spoiling anything) annoyed me.

my fav story arc is the one with rachael (was that the call girl's name?) and the whole clusterfuck that's followed her since season 1.. wish there was more. but it'll do

i'm six episodes into season 3 and finding it more of a slow burn so far – much more political manoeuvring than, you know, character/literal assassination – but it's putting more and more pieces in place for things to get really chaotic in the second half of the season

great show, pity netflix is such a pain to get working here

The pantheon:

The Wire
Six Feet Under
Breaking Bad
Mad Men

I actually have not yet watched the sopranos.

Is it up there with those? Nah. But it's the next tier.

Robin Wright guys. She's so so good.

it's pretty much the same except frank underwood is a king instead of majority whip and he's played by jon cleese and he has brown and crooked teeth

nah but really though i haven't seen it because i didn't want to spoil myself on the US show... but recently i read the US show at this point has pretty much nothing to do with the source material. so i plan on watching it pretty soon

The Sopranos is the GOAT imo.

If I were pressed I'd say Sopranos > Six Feet Under > The Wire > Breaking Bad

I've never seen Mad Men. Guess I should.

Lord yes you should. A slow burn. But such rich characters.

Elizabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks and the guy who plays Roger Sterling.

And Hamm obv.
