There's basically a quintessential "coin" with 2 sides, though. SD sound and MCIS sound. The Gish, Adore, and Machina sounds are all well liked, but not as defining for the band. SD and MCIS really set them apart from the droves.

I'm not approaching this from any stance other than a fan that doesn't play music themselves and has no reference besides what I hear both from SP and the hundred other bands I listen to from the same time period, since I see people going on about gear/production/blah blah.

wtf there absolutely is a golden age

in 1997 they were the biggest rock band in the world

we're lucky to have SD, PI, MCIS, TAFH

tons of shitty bands have legacies with less legs than that

you don't write a song like ruby when you're just phoning it in

you're really going for it

Also you could drop most tracks from SD and Adore (the up tempo stuff) right on to MCIS and they’d slot right in.

In short - they did have a quintessential sound, thanks everyone.

New Song: Hooligan @ 11:50
Old Song: Disarm
Guest: Butch Vig

https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR...EQ9sEGegQIARAC

Sounds like another CYR outtake, ffs.

Drums sound sampled, the vocal fx are really dated, lots of "oh" "ow" sounds from WPC, not into this.

33:43 Butch says he would get a call from Taylor Hawkins 2-3 times a year asking about the drum sound on Gish, that's sweet.

Having Butch Vig premier that poor excuse for a song is adding insult to injury.

Someone should like edit out all the Atum related stuff to make it sound more more like a get-together with Butch the living legend.

i listened to with ado i do before this to get into the mood

whoever characterized his vocals as 'literally physically nauseating' or whatever, EXACTLY. it's gross. viscerally off-putting.

and the new song? drums sound pretty good. another plodding half tempo open hihat chugger. nothing particularly likable or memorable

also, AGAIN hosts bad. i tape these songs myself and edit out the chatter before listening [all done thru guessing/waveforms] but even what i hear from them like that is horrendous

Well the other guy admitted to having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl twice so bad time to be too picky, innit?

you can't write a song called "hooligan" and not have me go "oh it's a cover of this classic song"

as much as i complain about rock music being for girls, i do think Kiss is for dudes

fuck i meant to quote that, not edit it. oh well. live in the moment.

New Song: Steps In Time @ 13:30
Old Song: Today
Guest: Tegan & Sara

https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR...AQ9sEGegQIARAC

Can a guest pick Jellybelly or Ruby or Geek USA to talk about ffs

The looping synth part on new song is a bit off putting but it's not a bad song overall. Guitarmony solo/lead is nice!

why don't they put the songs on youtube like they did with Cyr instead of just doing a podcast that only the fans listen to?
