ah, i'm so glad you asked

The Sinsemillian Chronicle 5:9

“A Megalothon, according to numerous recondite sources, is a Leviathan of the Upper Deep. Cloven Anderson (that wondrous writer!) quotes in the Principles of Psychic Detection (that wondrous work!) an ancient eldritch poem of unknown authorship in which this fantastical creature is described. It is said to be an inter-galactic space-whale, a cyclopean being the size of a hundred blue whales, covered in a pelt of shaggy fur protective against the freezing deeps of outermost space.”

“Under the pelt: eyes beyond count, green and gold, cover the Megalothon from the tip of his horn to tail of his flukes. The eyes are oblique, imparting unto them oriental qualities of cunning, cynicism, and malice.”

“On three giant pairs of dragon wings the supermassive Megalothon propels his sovereign self across the gulfs of space, bearing on his forehead an adamantine horn of cyclopean proportions.”

honestly really surprised to see "Crestfallen" on so many of yer lists. always figured that was for sure one of the ones people were referring to when complaining about "filler" on this album, though i personally think it's alright

Well done.
Actually no, the songs I picked flow quite nicely in the spots they're in as I put thought into it unlike yours.

Adore carries a lot of similarities for me with Nimrod by Green Day. Same era, both groups opting for a softer/subdued sound, each album leading with a great single that wasn't representative of the rest of the album, the first time major cracks started showing in the writing where I thought "hmmm I don't know if I like some of this", each album performed worse than their previous hits ETC.

Certainly a lot of correlation between the 2 records.

I know. I was trying not to be such a superfan and come across laid back like I don’t know every single nuance of how the songs are titled and presented in all of the album art.

Oh well. Deep down I am glad to have been called out for it.

Wow.

Nimrod is not soft. The lead single “Hitchin a Ride” sounds pretty much like the entire album. And it did at least as well as the album before (Insomniac) going double-platinum in the US and having one of the biggest hit singles of the 90’s.

What are you even talking about?

What other songs sound like Hitchin a Ride?

Tracks like Good Riddance, Redundant, Scattered, Last Ride In, Walking Alone ETC are all a lot more subdued and softer than anything Green Day had done before.

I suppose you're right in that it did similar to Insomniac as far as sales go, but still a massive disappointment in what they and the label were hoping to be a bounce back to something closer to Dookie numbers. I suppose the thing is is that I love Insomniac, so for me I don't really care about the sales figures but Nimrod just isn't a very good album.

And look, you have a song that's as big of a hit as Good Riddance and they still only move 2 million copies in the US? I'm not able to find the worldwide numbers, but I don't think they were great either.

And bottom line is, for me, it was the first time serious cracks were showing in 2 bands that I had previously thought could do no wrong and the albums were released around the same time. So as a music fan I think there's a definite correlation.

Not sure why you'd take that as trolling.

They were really cool for a few years... Didn't last long though, again much like Smashing Pumpkins.
