It’s an argument that is as old as time but on paper virgin vinyl is a perfect medium, since it’s literally just the exact waveform pressed to a disc of vinyl. Obviously there are tons of variables but on paper it’s perfectly lossless audio. Poorly cut vinyl (like the original of MCIS Remaster) show the flaws in it, but I’m just saying it is perfect.

But let's not forget, it's his old voice... which sounds nice. It won't be the vibrato / dropped consonants / reaching for way too high notes style.

How many studio "Arising! versions" are there out there? I know the BSBT one. I am really starting to wonder how this is going to be organized. Will there be "canon" versions and then separate "b-sides" versions or alt versions a la MII, or will particular versions be excluded. I found it really stupid that the studio version of Blissed and Gone was left off of the Adore re-release. These should be as comprehensive as possible, especially for the easy stuff to *******.

That and assuming that the 1/2 decibel he said was the increase on the 'vox up' Heavy Metal Machine can't be messed around with much considering it's an already finished mix, I really don't think there's anything to worry about in that regard. If 1/2 a decibel is the baseline we're okay; I'd estimate his vocals on current albums are like 3-4 decibels up for comparison.

Considering that he's said there aren't going to be any entire shows or anything because there's too much to put on, and judging by past reissues, I'd assume everything not part of the 50-something album tracks will be just that - alt versions, rehearsals, studio sessions.

As far as studio versions of Arising stuff goes, I think the versions of Dross and Cash Car Star that were also from the FAEOMM tape might qualify.

I kinda wonder about the leaked version of Home too, it seems structurally pretty close to the first time they busted the song out at St. Andrew's Hall on 1999-04-10.
