It's taking longer to do the backing vocals than it did to record the drums.
I know JC is a one take wonder and it's very different process for doing vocals, but I did think the backing was quite overdone on the last record. Just doesn't need stuff in every song... Like Billy doesn't need to squeeze in lyrics into every inch of the thing....

Never considered this, but Billy really is one snake-worshipping session away from becoming the Alan Moore of alternative music, and if he wants to grow his beard out to make the comparison more overt, I'm 100% onboard

Hmm. It's a fair question. That recent HBO Watchmen miniseries was pretty huge, but I doubt the average viewer would know Moore's name as a result. On the other hand, essentially nothing Billy has done since MCIS has been "pretty huge," so...

I doubt this means anything, but without a real idea of how to measure fame, I googled each of their names (with quotes, though Google seems more and more shitty lately about actually returning exact results with this method). Moore has "about 3,780,000 results"; Billy has "about 1,260,000." I have no reason to believe that means Moore is roughly three times as famous, but it does seem like it hints at an imbalance.

I feel like I can categorically state it would be a big step up in reputation. Fame, though, I dunno.

I imagine Corgan could throw some money at Buzzfeed or Hello Giggle or whatever the fuck and get some viral articles going like "Hundreds of fans praised Billy Corgan's masterpiece and his response was perfect" (response is the ol' instablock)

Or the New York Times could do "These alt-rock fans organized a celebration of their favorite record. What happened next was chilling" (again, instablock)
