The increased presence of WPC on a stage sans guitar is the only tangible negative from the return of James to the band.

I hope we get some good video of the band playing Wyttch, since it's the closest Billy's got to using his old voice in years.

Also, a band called Kississippi? That's pretty cool.

I look forward to the festival crowd really getting into it and singing along:

"SAMMY SAMMY..."

Apparently Katie Cole is not playing with them this time... CYR songs are filled with her bvs, I'm not sure they would work live without her

I really enjoyed her singing the times she’s been on stage with SP or BC. Unless they retool songs from Cyr like they do to other songs from time to time it’s going to feel like something is missing. Wonder how much of Cyr they will be playing anyways.

That's a bummer. Did she say she won't be playing?

Someone has mentioned she wasn't playing Riot fest and then Jack Bates posted a message on his Instagram

Quote:
Having a great time rocking once again with @williampcorgan @chamberdrums @jjjschroeder & @jamesihaofficial - first @smashingpumpkins shows for over 2 years coming up this weekend at @riot_fest & @seahearnow festivals…
No mention of her...

Katie just replied to my question if she was playing with them:

"No. But I hope the band has some great shows!!"

he brought billy gibbons out at the end of a show in 2008 which to me signified gibbons didn't want to jam with corgan

Billy's live on IG right now, Riot Fest is the first band performance in 25 months, 100 minute set, 20 songs, says it's a career spanning set from 1992 to today, definitely no Katie "just the 5 boys" he said.

Then he started talking about NWA so I tuned out.

Part where he was calling out a fan community for being too negative was pretty interesting, Sad Machines? I thought that lot stifled all critical opinion with an iron fist

Maybe he meant Netphoria, but Netphorians have never been too hard on Jeff.

No, he said it's somewhere he's engaged with, done things with etc, definitely not us unless threatening lawsuits counts

There's quite a lengthy bit in that live where he goes on about what he calls the "Smashing Pumpkins Business", basically saying expensive things must be sold by the band to pay for the lawyers

Wrong thread probably, but he did mention the label has a definite release date scheduled for the Machina release, but he cannot say anything until they announce it.

They desperately need to reduce the number of dudes on stage.

SP has never been about five bros rocking out. That's Foo Fighters.

If they had 6 bros then they might be good like Iron Maiden.

It's painful. I know he did it a handful of times back in the day, but it seems to be his thing now. When I took my best friend to see them on the Manson tour, he did "The Crying Tree of Mercury" without the guitar, and just sort of pranced around the stage making dramatic hand gestures. Both of us agreed it was much more horrifying and shocking than anything Manson did. That being said, I remember Jeff's solo on that song actually being killer.
