James, 2000/01/22

Quote:
. This next song which we will get to after a five minute jazz experience, we uh - it's an old, it’s an old song. I know you haven't heard many of the new songs but they're really, the new songs are really nice, you just don't know 'em yet. There's, there's a song on the album where we brought in a couple singers from a few boy bands: from Westlife...and from America, Backstreet Boys. And we're hoping to make the crossover that we've been trying to make for years and uh.... Uh, heh heh. Alright, okay, are we ready to rock? Now - now we will rock.

I was embarrassed as a teenager to let people hear me listening to James Iha.. but now I'd feel comfortable letting anyone listen to James Iha.. it's just calm, relaxing acoustic music and normal singing.. but anything Billy or Pumpkins since Teargarden Shiny Cyr and beyond.. I wouldn't want anyone to listen to this or hear me listening to this.. it's embarrassing as fuck.. or watching a video with little kids dancing and wrestlers and Billy Corgan in a long white wedding dress and grating sound of generic chugging.. and that voice jesus fucking

Netphoria is my only outlet to talk about how painful it is to watch my fav childhood band turn into this not good

Uh no. Billy actually complained at the time that James didn’t tell him he was doing a solo album and he said he could have made it better.

It's a nice album. A bit one-note as you get into it, but a nice note all the same. Shame it's not on Spotify, as I'd like to share it with people who don't know it.

That's not Carrie Ann Moss in the video, is it??

It’s crazy to me how James’ vocals were an issue back in 1998 but sound totally normal now.

I can’t tell if it’s due to the kind of bands that rose to popularity in the 00’s or because I just got used to it. But LICD was ahead of it’s time and has aged wonderfully.

This thread has over 100 more pages of work to do if it wants to compete with the Machina reissue thread

Let's keep it going!

This song and album were actually minor hits on the UK charts. I remember checking out Neal Casal (RIP) after reading that he was on some of the tracks.

Haha, yeah Billy with his "pages of notes" on how to make the album better. No thanks Billy, you're grand. You carry on with your career suicide album there. (jk as Adore is really good)

i love how james went out of his way during this era to write very positive and nice lyrics for the songs... i think this is part of why it aged so well... it's a record tailor designed to be lovely and make you smile

Kind of kills me that I bought the CD when it came out, but now I don't have a computer with a CD/DVD drive, and there doesn't seem to be a (legitimate) way to buy a digital copy. Wish I'd realized this was gonna be an issue before I lost any way of playing the dang thing. It's a very nice lil' record.

I'm glad I still have my iTunes account with Match, I still have digital versions of all my CDs. Can't rely on Spotify really!
