Is music about having fun?
It's something that James Iha said (paraphrasing), "Ultimately music is about having fun." Do you agree or disagree?
I agree, mostly. Making artistic statements is important but music is mostly about having fun. After watching the Pumpkins and "Guns N Roses" return with substandard, boring, totally un-fun albums, my respect for what Aerosmith accomplished is growing. After re-forming, they came out with some of the funnest music ever: Permanent Vacation, Pump, Get a Grip, Nine Lives... You can say they "sold out" but those are some of the funnest albums of all time, imho. You have to respect that kind of comeback. For some reason I think Stone Temple Pilots has it in them to release a great comeback album, we'll see. Any thoughts on this? Last edited by morespsoon : 11-25-2008 at 12:42 AM. |
