the misconception that you make it to the radio yr set for life is bs. what kind of royalties could toad really get?

its like Live, every time some dino rock station plays lighning crashes they get a tiny check to split four ways. but ehat else they get? and now theyve all sued each other so its not like they can do dino tours with everclear and 311

fastball (remember "the way"?) ended up owing their record company money

TTWS has a pretty dedicated following. Glen Phillips may or may not be a millionaire but he is definitely comfortable, and TTWS still tours and he tours by himself. He wrote one pretty good solo record as well in 2005, never could get into the other ones.

they also wrote a new record somewhat recently, and i believe the band is on good terms and has all the original members.

really don't think they are struggling

Fun story about that song "the way" - the song was written about a news story about a couple who had disappeared together, left their house and all their stuff behind. The dude who wrote the song thought there was something profound about just walking away from your life and responsibilities and stuff.

It was only after the song came out that it came to light that the couple had been abducted and murdered.

I like Reprise because she still enjoys a lot of the forgotten 90's music as much as I do. I mean, I've never actually listened to Dishwalla or Toad the wet sprocket aside from their 1 big hits, but it's cool that she sought em out.

I mean, I do like a few of those bands, but most of them are terrible. I mean I think toad is the only band like that that I actually know their discography and not one album or two at most.

They weren't abducted and murdered.

They were old got lost and drove off a cliff. Cops had actually pulled them over on the trip because they were driving without headlights. There were several witnesses who talked to them on their trip, none of them knew they were a missing old couple though. Just a sad story about to old people with Alzheimers.

I would admit to enjoying this band on occasion, but having just pretended to be too cool for Ryan Adams/The Strokes in that other thread, I can't do so at this time.

Question

Y'all ever check out Thom Yorke's brother's band, Unbelievable Truth

I always thought they sounded like if Toad the Wet Sprocket had formed a suicide pact right before recording an album
