Default Tonight I saw DEAFHEAVEN and ZEAL & ARDOR

It kinda goes without saying that DFHVN were great. Played a good mix of stuff, really tight, George was in great form (and rocking some extremely hot elbow length latex bondage gloves), you could tell they were having fun, it was everything you could have wanted.

BUT

Zeal & Ardor was one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. I'd watched some live videos and figured it was going to be worth seeing but it absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. The vocals were just so arresting and the bloke played and sang with so much energy.

This is probably as close as I could find to doing it justice. song starts at 1:35

This is how I felt when I saw Street Sects. One of the greatest things I've ever seen and there is absolutely no way of fully appreciating it without actually being there

This is cool though. Was not expecting it to sound like that when they started playing. Seems like it would be a fun show

Just saw the same tour.
Zeal and Ardor was fucking unreal, they’re going to be huge.
Baroness were great, had tons of technical difficulties though.
Deafheaven was electric as always.

Got free tickets to this tour today, I think I would like to go, what was the crowd like? I can't take super drunk and aggressive lately, the last Deafheaven crowd I saw was both.

Everyone was mostly chill during Baroness, but probably the largest circle pit I’ve ever seen for Deafheaven—Clarke eggs on circle pits usually—but if you stay back you’ll be fine. As “big” as they are, they’re still black metal so the crowds aren’t too large

that sounds doable yes. I loved the last album so much plus I really want to hear this opening band I had never heard of, I just need to resist the urge to go stand in front. When did I turn 60!

They play three songs from OCHL, so you’ll love the show then. I stayed to the back most of the show, until Dream House which is pure emotional catharsis live. I got to scream the ending of Dream House, actually! Got beat up and squeezed half to death in that pit, but it’s worth it. I’m too old to do that anymore, I saw Deafheaven on the Sunbather tour and left with bruises everywhere, moshed the whole time, definitely can’t do that anymore.

Zeal and Ardor are stunning. They’re like slave spiritual/call and response/blues black metal. I went in fairly blind to them and left thinking they were better than Baroness. Baroness was good but their set dragged ass in the middle.

i saw deafheaven once & the lead "singer" looked genuinely possessed, in a way i've seen few people on stage be - then again, i guess i've been to considerably few black metal shows

dude was flippin' on & off the stage for what seemed like the entire show

No, he’s like that every show and most metal frontmen aren’t like that. He’s unbelievable, he like conducts the crowd. It’s stunning.

If you call that ill-fitting, you should see how band shirts for men in standard size L look on me!

I should mail my boris shirt to you guys, you can try it on and take pics and post them. It's xl but i swear to god it fits me like a goddamn tank-top.

I think we should start with fuzzy.
