why does everyone like Slow Dawn so much
it's fine enough but it's not even top tier machina... the fact that this song is brought up more than say, Try Try Try, or even like, Home, is sortove a travesty..... it's not a terrible song or anything, it's just mad boring

Oh sweet, you joined a little over a month ago and you're already trying to police the discourse on this decades-old web forum
Maybe instead of being a Negative Nancy you could be the change you want to see in the world and just bring up the songs you like more often |

Also I'm never not going to glance at your name and think it's "our use of tools" and it's like, what the fuck does that have to do with anything, makes me so angry

It's definitely top half of Machina, maybe not top 5. I like the vocals, the guitars, the warm kind of tone. Basically the whole thing, yeah.

As Slunko has stated, it’s just an incredible track. I’ll give an anecdote explaining why I love it.
Several years back I was at a party with a bunch of mates, and we were in a tent trying to sleep, at what, 3am? One of my best mates starts having a threesome with two girls so loudly that I realised I would be getting no shuteye, no sir-E! Content to get at least five hours of sleep that night if it was gonna kill me, I began cycling home from that village to mine several miles away. Once I reached the top of a particularly nasty hill, I whacked on my combined Machina 1/2 playlist in my earphones for the rest of the journey. Slow Dawn was the first song that came on. It was a starry night as I stared out at the village from the top of the hill, where that threesome was still no doubt in full swing. Slow Dawn kept playing, and it just touched me in the right way at the right moment - that shimmery guitar, twinkly synth intro, Billy’s particularly pleasant cadence that was omnipresent through the Machina era, everything just captures that washed out, nighttime dead planet vibe Machina had going for it. In that moment I felt young - I was always more of Machina kid than a Siamese kid for some dumbfuck reason, and so Machina has felt really special for that reason - and in that moment, with Slow Dawn blaring in my ears as I biked home in the cold at 4am, I didn’t know that I’d ever feel that young ever again. tldr: learn to love it you fartknocker - listen to it on a nighttime bus/train ride or summink, that’ll do the trick. |

Slow Dawn is easy top 5 Machina and in terms of overall Pumpkins tracks it’s up there.
It’s tight as fuck, it excels partly because of the Machina aesthetic where other tracks were kneecapped by it. As others have said, it viiiibes. Plus it gets some status because Bill clearly underrated it as it wasn’t even an album track on MI or MII. File alongside: Vanity, Chrysanthemum, etc. |

God your streak of terrible opinions has no end. Slow Dawn is 100% confirmed top tier Machina.

This Time, Age of Innocence, Stand Inside, I of the Mourning are a few I'd actually class as "top tier Machina"
but in the words of Willem "Willybaby" Defoe in that classic film, "to each his own" |

Appreciate you shouting our Age of Innocence too though my man - my favourite Pumpkins song since I first heard it - the only song I can think of where I would actually pay like £100 to relive the memory of listening to it for the first time again. Barring Today and Tonight Tonight it was the first song I ever heard by the band, in my grandfather’s old study room all those years ago. I still love it to death now but something about that first listen sat alone in front of that computer was indescribable- life-affirming. Yeah this thread has completely dashed any hope of me escaping my teenage nostalgia. Dorks. |

this song doesn't even get enough hype for it to be taken down a peg with a cynical thread

Slow Dawn
Vanity Saturnine is probably the only time Billy has lined up three tracks on a record correctly. |

There are so many songs on M2 that should’ve been on M1.
Slow dawn > try try try and a bunch of other songs from that era. |

Real Love>Go>LMGTWTY>Innosense>Home is probably the single largest group of successive A+ of songs on any SP album. Such an unbelievable power sequence
