legend has it, when Richard shot his shot w/ D'arcy, and it landed

Bill Corgan was in the back

uttering a certain catch phrase and smiling very slyly to himself

wonder what that could have been!

the "single edit" of Where Do We Go is so stupid

like yeah i'm sure omitting that one awesome line from each verse is really gonna get you more MTV airtime in the early 2000s or whatever

STUPID

I met him in Memphis after their random show at the Mid-South fair. He was a really nice guy and he liked my cat lazer eye shirt.

...and he said what when you, obviously, asked him to clear up this whole D'arcy sitch?

Isn't that D'Arcy over his shoulder in that pic?

It's really hard to say. Lots of James on Cherub Rock (especially in the chorus), but if there is any D'Arcy on that track, it's very, very quiet in the mix. At times I feel like I can hear her.

Isolated vocals:

Btw, that "let me hear you say" (2:39) is a such a nice detail and a really cool harmony.

Didn't see a serious definitive answer in this thread but yes D'arcy did sing a lot of background vocals.

Regardless, in the recent Rick Beato interview with Butch he talked in length about the Eventide (Harmonizer?) which was famously used for doubling Billy's vocals. One channel was a bit up and the other a bit down to create a thicker sound.

Butch Vig never mentioned Darcy doing any vocals on his recent Rick Beato video so I'm inclined to think this is BS.

D’arcy barely did any backing vocals on SP albums. Lead on Daydream, the doo doo doo on WBFTT, a verse on Farewell and Goodnight, a James song or b-side, what else? I genuinely don’t hear her on most of it.

I hear the doo doo doo as James. I do hear some D'Arcy bv's on Cherub Rock and Soma.

She also sang on Beautiful as well as Dreaming.

I don't believe it-

I'd rather he talk about Trent Reznor and how fake his persona is- that would be way more interesting even if also embellished.

Trent Reznor likes to make himself worse than he actually was.

Last year he invited Richard Patrick onstage to play Filter's big song.

He likes to come off like this brutal dictator but works with the same people over and over and even welcomes them back years later. He was humble enough to realize after 30 years of career he needed an Atticus Ross.

I've listened to SD more times than you've jacked off to Taylor Swift, dude. Never heard any Darcy backing vocals, never seen any mention of Darcy doing the backing vocals on it until this chump piped up.

Did you not read his original claim, that Darcy’s parts are mixed super low to be disguised underneath billy’s to give it a boyish quality? His voice literally never sounded the way it did on Siamese dream again, except on MCIS when they did the same technique (on Cupid de Locke most notably)… there are absolutely Darcy vocals mixed into parts of Cherub rock, quiet, soma, etc.

Richard Patrick talks out of his ass about 90% of the time. There is no secret D’arcy vocal track mixed super low anywhere on SD. I’ve listened to the isolated tracks. The vocals are all Billy. His voice sounded like that because that’s the style he sang in then. He also trashed his voice on the MCIS tour screaming every night. He did also say that he played up the sneering nasally vocals on songs like Zero and BWBW deliberately on the album too.
