Red face You know that feeling...

when you make a post and then later think about it and go..why did i post this...this was a stupid thing to post. Probably someone will give me neg rep for this. Or they'll get on my case for on reason or another. Or misread me. Or make fun of it.

Like how often does that happen to you?

Because It's nearly daily for me.

Like.... i'll totally regret posting this thread in 5 minutes for example. I know I will.

I've screwed up my reputation on so many forums, gotten myself banned so many times...

But you know what, it's worth it. Sometimes we only learn through the school of hard knocks.

I think this folds nicely into your overall problem of overthinking things

I can relate. I do it in all areas of my life, not just online. I think this place encourages it because at least one or two people will attack you over the slightest "transgression" or, you know, you post a silly thread and get shit for it even when the board is dead and it would be easier to ignore a thread than post in it to say how much it sucks.

Then again, both online and in "real life" I don't feel hurt if someone insults me (maybe I would if it were a close friend or something), I don't take myself too seriously, it's just the anticipation of someone denigrating me or whatever.

The reality is never as bad as the feeling of general unease at having done something "wrong." I've been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder before, so I'm sure it's all related to that. It just seems I constantly have to be worried about something, whether big or trivial.

The best thing about being teetotal is that I don't wake up thinking, "Why the fuck was I saying/doing THAT?" This sober version is a lot more bearable.

this is why you should always pause and re-read before hitting 'submit'

ask yourself what is it i am really trying to say and is this really worth it? is it nice? is it necessary?

I know i was just gonna come in to say you'd think this would get me to reconsider a lot of my posts. But it doesn't.

Well...not true. Occasionally i say fuck it and decide not to post. Though it's usually after i already wrote a gigantic paragraph. A lot of the time i feel i rather post it than have wasted the time for nothing. I' rather waste everyone else's time than mine.

i wonder if mods can see the number of times a post has been edited under the "last edited" timeclock because i usually make revisions to a post immediately after submitting as well. a lot.

i'm sharing this with you because i'm trying to get into your headspace

Most of my edits are typoes related. Not always but most. But i hate not getting to it on time cause then people may think you edited yourself and i pride myself on not editing myself.......or something.

I can relate to that unease of feeling you've done something "wrong" for sure.

That's offensive. I can last at least a minute on a good day.
