It's confusing. I definitely consider myself white, but simultaneously I've also experienced a ton of overt racism and people obviously staring at me in that way I have learned means, "I want to ask if you're Jewish and then tell you that I don't hate Jews but I just felt like I need to know if you are. Really, Jews are cool."

There's always been a sense of being "othered" in that "somebody definitely has a problem with my genetics" way. It's hard to explain, but I'm sure people across the world of all types of "minority" status have felt that, and likely in even more extreme ways. But if you're a member of a race or ethnicity that has been the target of genocide or hate crimes then it's fair to say you can sense potential animosity a mile away, and that it's real.

You're conflating whether someone can pass as white with whether they are considered white. They hate Jews for not being christian, not because they don't look Caucasian. The racist bullshit that argues Jews aren't white is just more nonsense to justify bigotry. Race is a social construct.

I can pass for a cisgender, straight, white, christian woman. But i'm not cis, straight, or christian. And they will kill me first. Even though I am white. White doesn't mean everything.

A lot of their rhetoric has to do with Israel and its politicization, which is a tough subject for me as a more secular-minded person who values fairness and equality for all, while still agreeing with parts of both sides of that particular issue.

It looks like the right wing in Israel is on the verge of enshrining their control in law, making it impossible for opposition to oust them from government.

Maybe Likud thinks they'll have the backing of the diaspora and the USA forever. The US government supports proto fascist states and dictators all over the world. So I guess they'll keep supporting a future Israeli dictatorship too.

I grew up in a very Jewish area (~40% culturally speaking) so it's not weird at all to me to be surrounded, but now that I live in New England I've only met one new person who is a Jew (besides my friend who convinced me to move here). But people here are cool with absolutely everyone so I don't feel weird. My friend looks very, very Jewish and has a super Jewish last name and is a teacher and often is the first Jewish person his students have met (that they know of). They're not little kids.
