it's a dull autopilot one note big boy muscleflex record

i agree it's better than the likes of Tears in Kolaidescope: Aug-Jupp' Purple Edition Vol 3. - No Heaven, No Hell, Some Furniture , but that's only because those aren't even really music

Statistics never lie:

According to "Metacritic" the reviews for the "Monuments" album were even better than for the "Shiny And Oh So Bright": 70/100 compared to 65/100.

Although the "Shiny And Oh So Bright" album only stayed one week, at No. 54, in the regular Billboard Album charts, it got to No. 2 in the Billboard Independent Album charts, No. 8 in Billboard's Top Alternative Album charts and No. 10 in their Rock Album charts. Rock must be dead...
Anyway, there's always a place to look shiny and bright.

Though, the album really didn't do bad on vinyl, getting there even into Billboard's best selling Top Ten. No wonder that they release new extra editions on colored vinyl...

I dug a little grave and a dropped a flash drive containing a pirated version of Shiny & Bright into it. Will never listen again.

Not digging it. I liked a few of the tracks at the time, and probably listened to it for the first month, but it really really hurts my ears. It's too loud and distorted and vocals are too high so fuck that, I'm not listening to shite like that when I have the whole history of music at my fingertips.

agreed. I hate that aspect especially too. it doesn't help that the songs themselves aren't too interesting too.

mals you need to choose which side your on. listening to boris and liking zeitgeist--it's like praising god with your deeds but cherishing satan in your heart.

truth be told i'd say i loved hearing Bilbo & Jimbo playing the shit out of their instruments than any particular song on the record - tho some are actually good, song & all

Marchin On and With Sympathy are still good when they come on the shuffle, but I haven't chosen to listen to the album since a week after it was released.

I haven't listened to this for ages, probably going to keep it that way. THERE IS OTHER, GOOD MUSIC IN THE WORLD.

Also I don't count this as an album, it's a lazy, overlong EP. Like the Zero EP, but without decent songs.

Unhappy

I tried to turn my vinyl in to the police but they immediately drew their weapons on me

I threw it in the air in a panic and they shot it 22 times before it hit the ground

I don't understand the love for Marchin' On. It is probably the cheesiest track on the album.

Marching On is Billy & Jimmy rockin' while Billy sings like he did on Machina. if you don't like that you might as well give up now, this band will never again please you

Silvery Sometimes and With Sympathy pleased me. Stabbing cocks not so much. Old men are better at sentimentality than rocking hard.

those 2 songs are good, but Marchin On is the neccesary "rawker" which completes the triumvirate of why anyone should give this album a chance at all
