Seems a strange one to release. We've had a decent sounding digital version already and now they are going to put it out on limited addition vinyl whilst others gather dust on the shelf. Would have been better to put out another show from the 2017 or 2019 solo tour which we haven't heard previously if they wanted to put out some WPC stuff

Rubano was new/unleaked. I still don't dig the artwork approach and full shows would have been better but the whole thing was more interesting than a webstream that's been available to listen to for years

What would have been great, and I guess Warner music are to blame, would have been an "Ogilala" deluxe, which included "'Neath..." as well as outtakes and demos from the album sessions. With liner notes by Rubin and all such fun. This concert on its own - which has the already stripped down album performed in similar stripped down fashion, in the same order, seems more like a nice to have than need to have addition. "Ogilala" and especially its side 2 has really grown on me, so at least it is good to have an occasion for people to (re)discover it.

Album really is solid, though. I would rank it as my current favorite BC solo record, with TFE being a close second place. "Archer" alone puts it over the top. Nothing on any of the most recent 3 SP albums that touches it. |
