By far my favorite 90s band was The Smashing Pumpkins - D'Arcy, James, Jimmy, and the other one, the bald guy.. forgot his name

Rolling Stones gotta be getting up there in age by now, yeah? I'm going to go with them, even if they're probably just an '80s band at this point.

this ultimately brings up the point that pinning bands & their entirety identities down to a decade (aside from the cases where that actually is the only decade they made music in) is kind of stupid & also kind of a dead end

90s music is wildly overrated.

can't tell if that was a "exception that proves the rule" post or a "Boris sucks too" post

either way, poor form LB, poor form!

Neither, really. I'm not saying that 90s music sucked or is fully undeserving of praise.
Just that in rock and pop circles I see a lot of people talking like it was some untouchable golden age when in reality there's amazing worthwhile bands in every single decade.

So you admit that Boris is the best band of all time in the whole universe?

Great!

it was a golden age of relatively weird, relatively underground stuff actually getting to the mainstream (i.e. the very band this board is 'bout!) but the fuzzyroes ideology that that sort of music (particularly rock music) flat-out disappeared after the decade just because it didn't stay in the mainstream is, ofc, flawed
