haha no it is not

i never spent any significant amount of time in a deposit state until michigan a couple years ago and i was confused for a second. they have like... machines in the front of grocery stores.

i feel like it's easier to just supply recycling containers but maybe that's just 'cause that's what i've always had.

yeah, it seemed to incentivize recycling a lot more. not for most users but for the people who were willing to dig through trash and pick out every last recyclable bottle and can.

right. when i lived in florida they'd collect everything in the same truck. there were hoppers on the side that held the three categories of recyclables and then the rest of the cargo was trash like a normal truck. i don't know how cost-effective that was but it seems logical that adding a few trips due to reduced capacity per trip would be way more efficient than sending trucks out just for recycling. who knows though

i think if there's single stream recycling it might be better

i guess it's cost of pick-up v. people's laziness

and that sounds like a bloody battle

never underestimate people's laziness. surely it'd win in the end
