"...dour shoegazers the Jesus and Mary Chain, who would get drunk and insult the other bands (“The worst experience of our lives,” singer William Reid claims). "

love it

at this point I think Billy's said it enough times
"I play the heel". additionally he's media conscious enough to know that he cannot reinvent himself and the best way to keep spotlight on him is to keep rehashing the same dramas and perceptions that people have of him. (pretty sure he's explained how Courtney explained this to him - basically "play to your strengths instead of trying to re-invent yourself". and it's 100% true when it comes to fame. You don't get a 2nd 15 mins, so might as well recycle the 15 mins you already had.

He's not "playing the heel" though, he's infamous for being a pompous ass amongst people who have actually met him in real life. Even in the 90s when he was on a truly legendary run musically he had that reputation. This is just who he is.

Does Billy just consider him a session drummer or something
He was never really a part of the band, he was a member of The Marked and post-Marked projects but was pretty much a session musician for the first demo. The details are a bit sketchy depending on who you talk to but Ron claims he didn't want the gig and Billy said he didn't want Ron to have the gig.

I used to be in contact with Ron for a while via Myspace and he is a little out there. We exchanged several messages about 20 years ago and he spoke like Billy was still his best friend. Those messages are most likely long gone now with the revamp of Myspace. He stopped speaking to me after I told him to knock off spamming his new EP in a community I made him aware of. He claims to have a ton of material of unreleased material from back in the day that Billy has forbidden him to release.

This wasn't from Ron, but there are a few reports from people who were around at the time of The Marked who claimed that the band split up because Billy was constantly being a dick to Dale Meiners. Apparently, it got so antagonistic that Dale ended up throwing some punches at Billy before quitting the band.

What do we think Bill’s jumpshot looked like? What type of player was he? I feel like he was a chucker and a hotdog.

I had Ron Roesing’s double cd. I forget the name. But it had some interesting songs on it. A few that were pretty good. I remember there was one called “Smugly”, clearly a dig at Billy. It was also packaged as kind of a mockery of MCIS. I traded it to Ryan Patrick on AMSP in early 2000 for some Machina soundboard recordings that he ended up not sending me (thanks for ripping me off dude).

Edit: it was called “Hope-Fullness and the Oh-So Finite Happiness”. Makes you wonder if “Shiny and Oh So Bright” was a dig back at Ron also.

Fascinated by Ron and Dale, and the 3 as a trio

James Billy and Ron is the true SP. We need to get a reunion with Ron set up so they can get back to making classics like the first demo tape. Everything was downhill after that sadly.

I heard that drum machine moved to Wichita and got into real estate, married a nice lady and raised a family. you could say he was the lucky one in a way

Idk he’s never been a team player in other aspects of his life why would he start with basketball? I’m sticking with chucker.

he loved having structure and discipline but when he was an adult that no longer existed for him and he hated it (wah my mom wah my dad) he resents not having anyone in his world guide him he has no role models except guys on rock posters

this is all very clear and conscise

It’s not unusual to call Billy Corgan a raging asshole, but when it’s coming from a guy who is known behind the scenes as being a real creep with minors, it’s hypocritical.

Smugly was his nickname for Billy.

I am extremely satisfied after all these years Bill is doing so well and all these grunge losers are still whining to anybody that will listen.

Sometimes I read little headlines that are like "reading comprehension is plummeting rapidly" or "reading comprehension at an all time low" and i'm like there's no fucking way it can be that bad and then sometimes i just see a post like that above and i want to punch a wall
