In all likelihood this is going to be the Star Wars Special Edition of the Smashing Pumpkins. Just like Zeitgeist was The Phantom Menace. Instead of good mixes and sensical arrangements, just random Bill choirs on every song and random extra shit everywhere with Billy saying that's how he originally envisioned it.

Cash Car Star sounds so crisp in comparison to most of the other Machina II stuff that I guess I can overlook its shortcomings. Plus, it's catchy and heavy, which automatically made it better than most of the M1 shit. I know that just being a well-paced, heavy rock song doesn't automatically make it good, but after suffering through bullshit like Crying Tree, when I heard CCS for the first time it was like a godsend.

CSS was the LMGTWTY single that billy left off machina 1 to snoot the label... as usual.

Really, looking back it's a shame that Jimmy came back after Adore. I think it would've be far more interesting to see where Bill would've taken the band after Adore without Jimmy. Adore seemed like natural artistic evolution, and not having Jimmy pushed his songwriting. Machina seemed like a forced attempt to recapture former glories and also compete with nu-metal bands. It was too easy and formulaic to fall back on Jimmy and say "do 800 snare rolls here while I riff on the low E"

He actually seemed in kind of a decent mood on his last round of questions (provided that Machina one wasn't one of them) answered mostly nicely to people and didn't randomly call 'em nerds or say they weren't gonna get laid because they liked a song off Machina 2 too much

He did however say he never played/met with David Gilmour, which was strange
Proof of dead Billy/nuBilly/"bUlly"?

Sorry I didn’t realize Machina was suddenly not mediocre anymore. Still better than any Boris album though.

Jimmy was done in 1996. The band as we knew it was over. Machina was a half hearted attempt to capture a big rock sound again after Adore failed to sell well.

I know. I can name 2,465 Boris albums better than Machina.

I’m not a fan of Machina (Machina I have a particular disdain for) but what you just described is more Zeitgeist than anything else. THAT was Billy’s half-hearted attempt at reclaiming his rock star status. Machina was Billy’s misguided attempt at doing a Wall-style concept album/rock opera. Although I think the end product was a failure, I’ll at least give him credit for attempting to do something epic.

And in either case, Jimmy wasn’t the problem. The problem was poor songwriting on Billy’s part.
