Default Was Billy using amphetamines 2007-2008?

he was rail thin, wide-eyed, and acting out in ways that even his personality can't explain. convince me Billy was not using again during the Zeitgeist era

I stopped being surprised by anything he said or did a long time ago.

Pretty sure he was raw vegan. In 2010 or so he was eating burgers on tour so it's no surprise he got fat.

Also, thread sucks.

he looked great back then. maybe looking good gave him the confidence he needed on stage to fuck with casual fans in the audience

He did look extremely thin back then. I'm assuming this is from around the same time:

he looks better when he's skinny than when he's fat. he's one of those people who don't look that bad when they're skinny. but he looks really old and shitty when he's fat

I think he looked really gross being old, bald and skinny like a corpse and then those hideous dresses. I really dislike the 2008 look.

Favorite Billy will always be ugly moose sweater balding and fattening up but not quite there Billy

When I was 14 I thought Corgan's disregard for fashion was just the coolest thing ever.

I still own the Zero shirt and the ugly sweater but I threw out my flowery button ups

no he was just a petulant baby when his band came back and didn't set the world on fire like it did 12 years prior.

also what was the netphoria reaction to Tarantula coming out?

it was pretty positive, iirc. people were masturbating to the slow down part

i'd seen some of the early reactions to z
in retrospect it's kinda scary, considering how negative attitudes toward that album became. it's like something was put into the air

bolly was not using drugs. At the 2008 show at the Aragon he made a comment about the abundance of weed smoke and how he hadn't smoked in a very long time. I find it unlikely that he would be so affected were he regularly using a harder substance

The disappointment with Zeitgeist was due in part to the sheer weight of expectations. It was the comeback album, tons of money was being spent on it and it was being promoted like crazy. I remember listening to live boots, especially after the Paris show, and then hearing the album…it was just such a stark difference. The million Billy choir/the vocals, production, etc. I don't know when the last time it was that Billy wrote songs, played them live, and then reworked them for the studio. For whatever reason that process seemed to work really well for SP1, they would rehearse the songs, play them live, and then makes changes. But now he doesn't have a band with strong personalities so it wouldn't make a difference.

While it's a weaker SP album, I think it had some really awesome high points - it just had more really low points, mostly due to stylistic decisions made in studio. Tarantula and That's The Way are worthy of SP1 status and I wish BC would circle back to that sort of style.

Yeah, it had its memorable high points. That's The Way and Tarantula were two of the better songs on the album...though Tarantula intentionally sounds so much like Dark Lady by the Scorpions, which is probably why I like it so much and That's The Way sounds like it might fit comfortably on SD. I quite enjoyed the b-sides/bonus tracks as well. But I still only really like about half of Zeitgeist. The concept behind the album also seemed muddled and conflicted.

Best SP2 part. Never recreated that dreaminess.

I love Tarantula. Best SP2 song and better than a lot of SP1. Great vocals, production, riff, slowdown, everything. Needs to play it live again.

Most disappointing on record was Doomsday Clock. Man, that song should've been a barn burner. I wish Corgan would redo the vocals and get a real producer like Vig or Flood. Then it would be really underrated.

tarantula has a lot going for it. the breakdown part. the whole white hot soul part is pretty rad. but the verses kill it. i dont want to fight, every single night in those loud ass dry vocals. and the solos are cool but are kinda try-hard. but it'd be a great song with some better verses
