I admire him for doing something totally different, and as with basically everything he's ever released, I like the songwriting. I can see the appeal of the arrangements and the production. For me, it felt like a contrivance to have so much digital production. As if it had its eyes on the future, but it was projecting an out of date, 80s vision of the future, ahead of itself, and then expressing that idea of the future, rather than the future itself

that's the production/arrangement

the songwriting actually is pretty futuristic

and I know the two blend together and there's no other way this record could be made

these are just my feelings ok

Yeah it's got some guitar on it, but that's not my point.

I mean the synths sound like a guitar player who doesn't have a guitar with him. The drums sound like a guitar player recording a home demo, loop the same beat over and over. There's limitless possibilities with electronic music and Billy made something that might as well have been performed by a rock band.

At least "The Future Embraced" was more futuristic than Corgan's second solo album, which could have better been expressed, with another German "Zeitgeist"-vibe, as "Opilala" (=grandfather-music).

After all the drama last year it smells like a self-pitying jerk trying to get new sympathy by playing the repentant sinner.
