I've always wanted to wait until this version came out to get a better understanding of how the songs are supposed to fit together. But I started to get impatient, as some folks reached out to me on social media, trying to get copies of my old reconstruction. But now, I guess I'll wait.

Secondly, I completely forgot all of the little instavids Corgan posted while remixing this thing. Made me appreciate this era more (I've always loved it), but it also gave me pause, to, again, see what this dude has put together for us. But also, confirmed what I already knew in my heart-- Machina is a vast mess of an unfinished album that probably can never truly be finished or even "reconstructed" (to my "standards", which is a whole 'nother thing, I suppose).

Thirdly, I still love that he took two swipes at me, fucking hilarious.

As for my revised reconstruction itself, it didn't change anything, other than second-guessing the versions of the songs I was going to use (which led me to think to wait for this box set, if there'll be different and better versions). Last week I came up with a new track sequence, sort of starting from scratch, ignoring everything I did previously (which in theory, would discard my preconceived notions of the meaning of songs I've had for like 20 years). The result was a revised track order that had some similarities and some differences to my last one, but also fixed a few of the issues I had with it.

But it's almost like a lost cause, I guess. I'll just wait until the box; maybe then do a reconstruction that is a different angle, like a "What if the album was finished with D'Arcy", making it like an Arising version? who fucking knows.
Did you ever consider you got it all basically correct, sending BiCorg into a spiral of anger, meaning he had to rethink/redo his whole concept to prove you wrong?

Possibly you’re the reason Atum actually exists.

Bravo/boo hiss (delete as required).

Yep. RBQ baked the tapes. Then B0lly spent years trying to remaster the baked ratbastardquinto tapes and RBQ baked them again. Now won't ever see a re-release. I have more hopes for the Zwan reissue at this point.

You could make a solid argument that the band should've finished the songs at the time.

At the same time as Machina.

And then put out the best songs on a single record to please the label, fans, ensure the commercial longevity of the band... instead of saving the poppier tracks for a low-quality, unreleased leaked album.

Could be argued. But I'm not a genius with business models.

i honestly do feel that it's not entirely impossible he doesn't have a "spy" or two keeping an eye on this very forum, affecting that very thing

"oh, those bastards still care? delay it. they're getting the 'psychedelic album' this year!"

might be time to unveil operation "machina silence"

Why would he reference one Netphorian’s Machina tracklisting on his insta questions!?

Like… nobody will know what he’s talking about!

I thought he liked fan theories!?!?

You can take pride, though, that (presumably a while later) someone asked about whether he'd seen any fan-made tracklisting that was right and he was still fuming over yours specifically

Yeah I mean, ppl have been doing this since the album came out. Not sure how or why he singled me out.

THAT is so strange because the guy literally WANTED people to theorize and ponder and try to figure it out!

The Machina mystery is self-important bullshit.
Billy's self-important bullshit.
Nice to see he had a moment of clarity.

that would be merely one of many things he proposed around that time that he's since gone almost completely & directly against - but we can't put too much stock in it, it was merely Glass talking that mess after all!

lord this shitn does genuinely get kind of infuriating & I'm not even paying attention to modern "Pumpkins" anymore, lol

yeah, an all-timer of pot, meet kettle.

The denigration of the fans is the one thing that really drives me crazy with this guy, someone is spending hours and days of their existence on this shithole working with something he created because they love it, and he has to slam it.

What a fucking loser.

It's sold out already. I wonder if it includes Speed Kills?
They have other releases, including odd ones like the Greatest Hits.

yeah happy to post my thoughts when it arrives.

Had been looking for opinions otherwise myself before ordering and found a few on discogs: https://www.discogs.com/release/2546...achines-Of-God

Mainly positive, but with one overtly negative review:

I have this and the og pressing. I will say, this sounds decent overall. The original is obviously a bit more rich. I do find the mix a bit bass heavy on the boot, but that can be easily adjusted with a good EQ. Wouldn't break the bank on it, but if you can get one at a decent price, it's worth grabbing. 6.5-7/10 based off the original.

This record sounds pretty decent to me, I don't have the original pressing so I can't compare, but as a fan of the band and specially this record I am not disappointed at all with the sound.

Please, please, do not waste your money on this release. It is CD-sourced garbage (from the Japan release), extremely poorly eq'ed, has volume variances from track to track, and just sounds like absolute ass. I get that we as SP fans want this badly on vinyl, but this release is why you don't buy boots. Universal has the masters from Billy, and it will get an official release, eventually. Avoid this like a $5 hooker on the docks.

Sound quality on this one is fantastic, I’d never say it was an unofficial pressing. It uses the Japanese release run order.

For the album itself, it was my first time listening to it since 2000, and it was quite a refreshing listen. It encompasses pretty well all of what the Pumpkins had done up to that point, and turns in a solid rocker with quieter moments that should definitely please fans of the band.

Yeah that's true. But for mine I dropped "Age of Innocence" as my reasoning was that it was written after the concept had been scrapped. I now see that the concept lingered on even after Machina 1, so I admit to faulty reasoning.

Billy did an interview on Triple M radio about the upcoming Australian tour: https://articles.listnr.com/music/bi...pire-festival/

Billy finally reveals the Machina box set has been finished for a year and a half, possibly 80 songs, still blaming the vinyl shortage as a reason for delay...

Yeah, the shortage that seems to affect nobody as bad as it affects him?

There are countless artist that have recorded brand new albums and shipped them on vinyl within the past year, yet this mythical box set is just waiting in some queue? Bullshit, Billy.
