He apparently didn’t make D’Arcy sign one, but to be honest it’s pretty in character for her to refuse to do what Billy wants while James and Jimmy acquiesce.

It's a savvy move by Bill tho. Most musicians are total maniacs and play the victim constantly. Someone like Bill is an easy target to bash. I would do the same.

I actually met Sweeney once at a guitar clinic type of event. I told him I really dug his presence in Zwan and wished it would have continued. He didn't really say anything other than thanks, but then we talked about gear for twenty minutes. This was like 2014 I think.

Dude's not that talented but is REALLY good at making good contacts and PR stunts for himself. The whole Fender Guitar Moves and the interviews he does for the new Fender models prove it. He's basically the polar opposite of Bill Jr.

bruce corgan just has that vindicative side to him.

when you bring together all these things he's made known in the past, like how he mentioned on more than one occasion that he knows plenty about copywrite law, or threatening to sue people and bring them to bankruptcy so that they can't rub two nickels together, or making multiple bandmates sign NDA's, or being kind of a songwriter credit hog and making a LOT more money than his bandmates in the OG SP run... you kind of get a pretty clear picture of how this guy operates. he's pretty cutthroat

fwiw i don't judge him so severely for all these things, because he's clearly an abused and broken person who couldn't handle what fame and all that attention brought into his world.

you can claim that he's sort of trying to protect himself. but that still doesn't make his actions right at all

you know it's kind of interesting. i happened to watch a couple of interviews with james hetfield over the last few days, and like, when you see these people go one on one with somebody and just chat, they seem pretty together all in all. corgan sometimes seems legit like he's cool when he's interviewed. when he was on joe rogan for example, like, he was just chill.

these guys seem to really be capable of clear thinking and critically assessing what's going on with them, like normal people, perhaps even displaying a little bit of healthy humility. it really can seem like they are capable of existing outside of these ridiculous caricature rock personas.

but then you turn around and watch some other vid and it's a big old total man baby having a huge bitch fight with Lars because he criticized a riff, or BC throwing a blocking tantrum on social media after someone says they are fans of the solo on Soma

This is a severely underrated post.

With the NDA stuff, we like to act like Billy is washed up (and maybe he is musically to you) but he is still a celebrity and at his level NDA's are an absolute must. Especially now more than ever and is very well the reason why Billy has never been a high profile smear target.

Billy has had his share of help (Vig/Flood/etc), but he has given entire careers to people in his orbit.

Bill is playing with the band in the sense that every one of them is phoning it in for the $$$.

Countless musicians Billy has worked with.... so, umm there's Manson oops let's not go there for an endorsement, there's... none of his previous bandmates bar Jimmy. There are way less musicians speaking well of Corgan, than he has burnt bridges with or y been a dick to for publicity.

"A few random losers trash him"... Hmmmm... HMMMMMM... Nobody trashes him overtly because he's so litigious. He literally uses his wealth to legally bully people into silence. The only reason to do that is if what they say might be damaging to him. So... are his actions their responsibility or Billy's?

All the producers Billy pays to stick their name on the records he produces (with zero commercial success) all praise him because they're thinking about their next gig $$$.

Bill should be kissing the white van guy's ass and asking him to do some Complex jazz drumming rather than whatever phoned-in shit they've been doing since reuniting.

It's one thing to make colleagues like Sweeney, Paz, Mike & Nicole etc. sign NDA's so they shut up about Billy - but Billy doesn't even have the decency not to trash them publicly in return, even Jimmy with the "white van" comment... the man has no class.

NDAs don't bother me but WPC is no longer a real celebrity. Having peaked 25 years ago, of course his name still means something to some but really, he's more like those mid 60s musicians that were still around in the 90s.

That Rolling Stone interview were they were saying his first brush with mainstream fame in years was his friendship with Jessica Simpson? That's from 2010.

You're being far too generous to good ole Mattie. Looking up his credit history you see he's not accomplished that much. Most seem one-off contributions to some friend's songs.

Chavez was great but really he looks like the kind of guy that knows everybody at the party and that's what'll get you to the Fender realm of advertising. He even has a cut in that hipster burger thing in Manhattan.
