it would be a local matter unless perhaps some kind of database got hacked online.

take it from someone who has talked to the FBI. they don't give a fuck about most things. terrorism + child porn + trafficking (people/drugs) is 99% of it. not to say he didn't talk to them. but i doubt there is any kind of investigation whatsoever
