What I'd like to believe is that this was written and conceived by people absolutely young enough to understand Tik Tok culture, the concept of influencers, etc., but who took one look at yet another financial startup with a business plan that involves being billions of dollars in debt for at least the first ten years, met with the founders...
...and said, "Yep, we have to destroy this." |

going into debt is lit ya heard; with payday advances and earning points on things you don't need, you barely notice it though

a decade ago i had a meeting with a Big food company... They were launching a new product line and gave me an hour long presentation with a slick way too long Power Point, product samples, etc.
in the middle of the presentation one of the marketers explained their target audience was millennials and the first descriptor for Millennials was "doesn't mind being deep in dept" I stopped the guy and asked him what that was supposed to mean and why it would even be relevant to this product and his answer was they could charge more... because millennials didn't really care about the price. THAT is marketing in America |

you've no idea how much that grinds my gears...all of it including what is behind "millennials" just viewing debt as a fact of life. i do mind being in debt and i am terrified of having a credit card.

I have like 8 credit cards but never carry a balance. Make like 1k a year from using them, sometimes more if there's some deal (like I got 1k from opening one new card this year). But if you have any problems with spending just because you can, it could definitely be an issue. I do have student debt though.

I have my cards to auto pay and do the same thing, keeping an eye on spending using mint.com. Easy money. If you told me I had made 5-10k over the lifetime of my credit cards in rewards I’d believe you

YANB user here. 4 lyfe
I do find it hilarious that these companies collectively have given me like 75k in credit - largely based on my luck of not having recently medical expenses and slightly based on me being responsible and not spending money I don't have - when a decade ago I was spending all my money on pills. |

just signed the mortgage papers this morning for our new House in Seattle. Looked at the payment schedule and the final Loan payment is due in 2051
I think my odds of being alive in 2051 are way less than 50/50 Part of the stack of papers is copies of our credit scores. Mine is 820. I've never in my life been completely out of debt. Had small student loan when i finished college. Credit card and various loans ever since then.... the credit score is just a reflection of how profitable you are to lenders. My score is about 760-775, varies a lot depending on my specific balances when I check.
I'm thinking of getting this card: https://slickdeals.net/f/15130546-we...=2#commentsBox I put most things on Amex and get the best grocery/gas rewards on that, but I don't use it as small businesses because it charges them more than Visa/MC. The card I do use for small businesses is only 1% cash back. I spend a significant amount on medical expenses each month, too, that I wouldn't put on Amex for the same reason. I have a WF card, but according to posters I can ask them to close it if I get this one and combine my limits onto the new card. Or I could just change and not get the $200... I just changed it. I wouldn't open up a new account for $200 so decided not to, but switching is a no brainer. Same card number, don't have to switch my autopayments.
