It's perfectly clear that he's taking credit for the way the drumming style plays into the band's sound, not the drumming itself. It's one thing to have an amazing drummer, but it's another thing altogether to push said drummer in such a way that that his skills are on fullest display. I don't see how that is unfair.
Does no one here think that in 20 years Billy never once said to Jimmy "No, that doesn't sound right. Do it so it sounds like _____"?
