50s-60s rock was very dangerous and sexy
70s-80s rock got big and dumb but with plenty of real artists keeping the torch alive (Neil Young, Stooges, Bowie, emergence of extreme metal like black and death)
90s grunge made rock feel a bit dangerous and sexy for the mainstream audience again, then it burned and out mainstream rock has been shit since 1998 or so

Acts like SWANS are vital but not sure if that’s rock and roll
