Above all, I hope he doesn't kill himself. I hope he eventually feels good about life again. But that's one fucked up misogynistic outpouring. No way around it.
This isn't to say it isn't a common reaction. It's the kind of reaction you're aware any man in your life might have one day. But you fiercely hope the ones you know and care about won't.
I've followed his career for 14 years, and he always seemed kind and considerate. I don't doubt he is. It's just too bad in certain cases that comes with strings attached. His letter made me feel sorry for Leila, first and foremost. No one deserves something like that.
