has anyone else...

had a band, thought it was going really well, and then *poof* it was gone?

it's been about three months now since my band dissolved, and since then i kind of feel like my soul is eating itself. i was so happy when i was playing music, rocking the fuck out, and being creative with a group of people who i thought were on the same page. now that i'm not doing that anymore, i feel like i have no direction at all. i kind of just get high every nite, dink around with an acoustic, and watch fucking american idol. compared to six months ago, my life pretty much sucks now.

i still listen to the demos of that we recorded and smile wistfully. too bad i can never go back to that.

whew, i really needed to get that off my chest.

you could put some effort into getting another band together and be playing better than you were before

cork_soaker 04-12-2007 05:11 PM

i'm not knockin' i'm just sayin'

Caine Walker 04-12-2007 05:21 PM

i know, i know... admittedly, i probably haven't been trying as hard as i could be. craigslist is a freakin' joke, and other than that my networking has been less than, uh, fruitful.

however, bitching about it won't get me any closer to having another band. thanks for humoring me.

dude i started a myspace-like site for musicians. you upload what you've got for music, create a profile, and then you can view people by geographical location, and then by self-described style/genre/influences/etc. sort by what role (singer, guitar, drums, etc.).

you should definitely check it out

Caine Walker 04-12-2007 05:27 PM

huh. site?

wHATcOLOR 04-12-2007 05:28 PM

oh shit. that was a guy from the future. he uses my account to make posts sometimes. sorry man, i'll change the password so he doesn't do that again

i heard creep a while ago and thought they did a good job covering it, but i dont think its appropriate for an official release. would be cool to hear live if i liked korn and i was at one of their shows though.

Caine Walker 04-13-2007 10:18 AM

dude, you are totally in the wrong thread.

with this and Whatcolors post I think there is some temporal distortion in this thread.

oh my god i'm just back from the Paris show and Billy fired jimmy again, then played silverfuck for 3 hours

Caine Walker 04-13-2007 11:07 AM

it started out as garage-y electronic spacey math rock. male/female vox, synth and flute player, and lots of dynamic changes. a lot of personal things came up and we went down to just a three piece- guitar, bass, and drums. that worked for a while, and we recorded live takes of the songs that were written as the four of us, but a lot was lost without the electronic element. our best asset was probably variation of song structures.
