Headlining Riot Fest

Should be fun. Hope Billy is nice.

Ram27 06-16-2020 03:44 PM

Never been to a festival and don't plan on starting. Overpriced and too much of a chaotic hassle

Also the only band I care about there is SP

the only good thing is that there's usually a livestream situation

Eulogy 06-16-2020 03:46 PM

If you’ve never been to one I’m not sure how you can reach that conclusion. It’s my favorite weekend of the year every year.

I mean the drinks are overpriced but what can you do

Eulogy 06-16-2020 03:46 PM

I should add that the riot fest crowd is generally older and pretty chill as opposed to like, lolla or Coachella or whatever.

Forgotten Child 06-16-2020 04:12 PM

Gooch 06-16-2020 04:33 PM

There's talk they are changing the name "Riot fest" to "Peaceful Protest Fest".

Too soon?

Oklahoma Sexual 06-16-2020 09:05 PM

Gerard gets to play the same festival with his father

GreenDogGlynis 06-16-2020 10:03 PM

I have to admit I'm impressed that SP keeps getting top billing at all of these festivals

enthusaroo 06-16-2020 10:33 PM

MCR and SP together? Is this a self-harm festival? lol people will be slitting their wrists in unison while crying?

Forgotten Child 09-12-2021 10:42 AM

Funbags 09-12-2021 11:28 PM

This festival is still going ahead?

a) SP is playing live for the first time since the Zero Statue Arena Tour?
b) Has Batio replaced Jeff?
c) There's no way MCR are still performing.

Forgotten Child 09-13-2021 03:33 AM

The final lineup is

eviltimeban 09-13-2021 08:44 AM

I was wondering how Toots and the Maytals were playing, considering Toots is dead.

topleybird 09-13-2021 11:03 AM

I don't love their music enough for it to pop into my head, like, "Oh, I should listen to them," but for some reason I just have this sense that Living Colour puts on a fucking rad show

Fishbone was my freshman year roommate's favorite band and if I ever have to hear that shit again I'm pretty sure I'll go into a fugue state and act out the events of Funny Games (original German version) on my neighbors

I don't speak German but neither do they so they won't know

dustrocck 09-13-2021 12:17 PM

Morrissey and Corgan at the same concert? Are there 2 bigger assholes in rock right now?

Forgotten Child 09-13-2021 02:44 PM

They're also playing Sea.Hear.Now a few days later

jimmy "In the midst of the 1995's MCIS tour, Chamberlin's father died" chamberlin

I just learnt this.
Probably explained why his abuse escalated and involved multiple ODs

I'd be up for that - don't see anything on the website, but we'll see.

So, looks like they're playing Wyttch - that's a thing.

Any other setlist predictions?

Who's up for a good solid 14 minute Glass and the Ghost Children? 12 minute United States? Both are PERFECT for a festival setlist!

Gavvvvvin 09-14-2021 01:12 AM

Jimmy "digital content solutions" Chamberlin.

The increased presence of WPC on a stage sans guitar is the only tangible negative from the return of James to the band.

Funbags 09-15-2021 01:38 AM

I hope we get some good video of the band playing Wyttch, since it's the closest Billy's got to using his old voice in years.

Also, a band called Kississippi? That's pretty cool.

I look forward to the festival crowd really getting into it and singing along:

"SAMMY SAMMY..."

Forgotten Child 09-15-2021 09:47 AM

Apparently Katie Cole is not playing with them this time... CYR songs are filled with her bvs, I'm not sure they would work live without her

I really enjoyed her singing the times she’s been on stage with SP or BC. Unless they retool songs from Cyr like they do to other songs from time to time it’s going to feel like something is missing. Wonder how much of Cyr they will be playing anyways.

That's a bummer. Did she say she won't be playing?

Forgotten Child 09-15-2021 12:50 PM

Someone has mentioned she wasn't playing Riot fest and then Jack Bates posted a message on his Instagram

Quote:

Having a great time rocking once again with @williampcorgan @chamberdrums @jjjschroeder & @jamesihaofficial - first @smashingpumpkins shows for over 2 years coming up this weekend at @riot_fest & @seahearnow festivals…
No mention of her...

Forgotten Child 09-15-2021 01:58 PM

Katie just replied to my question if she was playing with them:

"No. But I hope the band has some great shows!!"
