something that comes with a power plug and (obviously) can go into the AUX input of my receiver?

All I can find are either portable USB units or $500 denon super guys

The smaller the better. I have 2.5" of space (height) above my tape deck but I can always plop it on top of the shelf (which is populated with various trinkets and a lamp)

I found an amazing second hand store specializing in obsolete hardware/media players last year. had my technics amp repaired there and bought a sony CD player for a couple euros. basically a guy in his living room that repairs shit and sells it for reasonable prices. which made me realize there probably aren't many of those left.

and yeah you really just need anything with a headphone jack, walkman included, then you can get a 3.5mm-->[RCA or whatever] cable to hook up
