My depression is in full remission

according to my psychiatrist. I still have some depression symptoms but they can be regarded as PTSD symptoms in context (I have sleep issues, but mostly related to nightmares and anxiety mostly related to dissociation etc).

Feels good. Strange. I really never thought this would happen.

I was a really, really bad case so any of you struggling should know it really can get better... I feel very lucky. My PTSD and dissociative disorder really suck but at least I'm not having intrusive thoughts of how to kill myself and am able to work and go to school and etc

Trots, graveflower, enrique, scotty, shallowed... hell most of us on here have depression and/or something else going on. I believe in you dudes. It gets better.

Even though you still have all this stuff going on, it's really good that you're still taking a step forward like this and being positive about it

Trotskilicious 04-03-2014 04:13 AM

how's your remission going btw

Shallowed 04-03-2014 04:53 AM

It's going.

I have more tangible reasons to be depressed now, which feels better than having intangible reasons.

Starla 04-03-2014 05:17 AM

I'm happy for you Erica : )

Starla 04-03-2014 05:25 AM

I'm waiting for something to happen, that most likely never will. As i lay here in the dark with my kindle, in the horrific grips of insomnia....lol .....i ....truly think...life is '...75% bullshit...and the rest is very very good.

i'm on mood stabilizers so i'm not emotionally all over the place, but rational hopelessness seems to be even more bleak

It does but it also doesn't when those tangible reasons feel nearly impossible to overcome.

hnibos 04-03-2014 11:33 AM

I'm happy for you Erica. Things will continue to get better for you.

slunken 04-03-2014 04:25 PM

Yeah I'm glad I can be positive about it, too. Getting to normal functioning seemed like a pipe dream so it's cool that it's happened.

Hope you start feeling better.

life is a lot of bullshit, I think the trick is not getting invested in the bullshit and just letting it roll past. maybe?

toase 04-03-2014 05:26 PM

That's great, wonderful to read.

I've been taking a small dose of a medicine for 2 months, and it's really helping me. I can sleep well and I think my depression is not my biggest problem right now. I don't know how much longer I will need the medicine, but it's good to know things tend to get better.

reprise85 04-03-2014 05:43 PM

Glad you're feeling better.

I'm going to be starting to lower meds again. It would be awesome to only be on one or two of them. Got a long way to go with that.

Learn to live again; find happiness, my long lost friend.

School is great. I should end up with 3 As this semester. Already have one officially in. I'm getting perfect grades on my essays after getting a lot of low As and high Bs on the first five or six. Almost done with my research paper (tentative title: Wikipedia: Beyond Accuracy). Only had one test in my second math class (took two this semester) and got 100%.

Looking towards the summer now, where I'll be full time @ 9 credits. Another math, English 2 and Computer Literacy.

Really doing well with work-school-therapy balance. Really hitting some heavy stuff now in therapy. :)

How are things for you? How's your daughter? Job?

That's great :) Two math classes at once? That's incredible... I would purposefully space mine out because I hate math so much.

Looks like you're moving right along. This year seems to be going by fast. I can't say I enjoyed comp lit, but Eng II is fun.

Glad to hear it! Things are just.... well, alright. Go to work, come home, wash, rinse, repeat etc. I'd like a little vacation.

She's doing really good! Dealing with a neighborhood bully, but we're getting through that. She's about to go see her gramma in South Dakota over spring break and I'll be here having some quiet time. :)

I'm SO happy for you!

kelsome 04-04-2014 01:20 PM

That's good to hear, reprise! I hope it's sustainable.

You mentioning a job made me think of my first therapist when I was 20. She pretty much told me to get a job and I would stop having so much time to think and would be better. Once I got a job she decided her work was done. Of course this was stupid for the most part. These days I feel better by exercising and making positive plans for myself.

Order 66 04-04-2014 01:29 PM

thats a really dumb therapist. i mean, it always helps getting a job but..
