Billy should team up with a hot-shit

I really think it's Billy's vocals that are holding back his music from the mainstream success that he so desperately craves. The vocals on Monuments are some of his best of the last several releases, but they still sound kinda strained and really lack a lot of range or dynamics... I guess Billy was never a good singer, but he used to have so much personality and emotion in his tone and delivery that he could get away with it... Now it's just kind of a 1-dimensional whine.

Billy should just form a band with some rock and roll guy with a great set of pipes and write all the music and vocal melodies and and tell the lead singer to do the parts... That way Billy could focus more on his guitar approach and lead licks too.

Just imagine some guy with perfect pitch belting out the one and all melodies effortlessly... It would probably fly to the charts in a hurry. A song like Drum and Fife would probably be a big hit if it was sung by a guy with fundamentally sound vocals too.

Corgans voice is really now just a deal breaker for a lot of people.

I'll share a good example: Whenever I play Pumpkins around girls who are just casual music fans they're always just in love with Disarm. So I follow that up with Let me Give the World to you (one of my personal favorites) and every time it's like "ughhh... This isn't nearly as good... the vocals sound so bad on this"

Didn't realize I had posted this in the general forums. Mods feel free to move it to the BC discussion page

Well also Siamese Dream has the most accessible production of any pumpkins release, so there is that, as well.

fuzzyroes 12-31-2014 06:13 AM

Nah man, A lot of younger girls actually really liked the Pumpkins. Even when I'm at parties with younger people I'll rip some classic Pumpkins and kids really have no clue about how great the band used to be.

dreams of glass 12-31-2014 06:15 AM

"omg that weird old guy is playing his dad rock again"

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 06:27 AM

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 06:28 AM

i like that he's going to parties with people 10-15 years younger than he is and teachin them 'bout stuff in his day

man i wish i had the coping skills not to notice what a gigantic tool i am

he is right, 20 somethings deify the 90s like certain ppl do with the 80s.

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 06:29 AM

I generally chill with people older than me. But theres been times where I've went to parties with a buddy where everyone was like 4-5 years younger. You have to also remember that I got into music at a really young age, mostly because I was introduced to it by my brother who is 5 years older than me.

Yeah man... We really are all getting fucking old. Feels like times moving at an accelerated pace these days or something

Elphenor 12-31-2014 06:37 AM

I can't understand not liking music just because it predates you. We don't do that with really any other art.

Elphenor 12-31-2014 06:39 AM

If it's good it's good regardless of whether it came out 50 years ago or yesterday

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 06:49 AM

who's saying that

Elphenor 12-31-2014 07:06 AM

Idk the "ewww my parents listened to that" mentality

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 07:24 AM

apparently it's a thing about getting older that you don't understand, junior

fuzzyroes 12-31-2014 07:27 AM

musics always been about being "the voice of a generation"... No young kids wanna relate to shit that their parents think is cool. It's why kids gravitated to Manson, Eminem ETC... Shit to piss off their parents with.

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 07:34 AM

false but fun to pretend

Shallowed 12-31-2014 07:38 AM

A lot of younger girls actually really liked the Mozart. Even when I'm at parties with younger people I'll rip some classical music and kids really have no clue about how great the era used to be.

teh b0lly!!1 12-31-2014 07:52 AM

it must be so great to be a giant douche and not ever having to realize it

Elijah Moon 12-31-2014 07:56 AM

I remember being drunk and enthusiastically recommending 'Let Me Give the World..." to some guy I vaguely knew. He downloaded it and thought I had feelings for him or something. I didn't, I just loved the song.

/ the end.

Trotskilicious 12-31-2014 08:11 AM

i think that song sucks
