damn, I'm thinking about it

Brute Squad 09-22-2007 03:44 PM

You have plenty of time to think. I just bought mine. I don't know why they're playing the Backyard. It's too large of a venue.

TuralyonW3 09-22-2007 04:04 PM

ok I just bought a couple. seein them both nights!!

The capacity is 3200. That's not too big is it?

edit: actually it's 3200 for seated, 4,500 for general admission. still i hear it's a pretty great venue right?

It is a phenomenal venue. I absolutely love it.

I would be surprised if they fit 4,500 people in there though! I always remember it to be a relatively small venue.

Especially because the Woodlands show is 17,000 and the Dallas show is like 6,000.

TuralyonW3 09-22-2007 05:17 PM

the woodlands pavillion sucks. it's pretty but the sound is like half as loud as any other venue i've ever been in.

Dude I know. Blah. I wouldn't even be going if my friend could make the other shows, but whatev.

Oh, it looks like EITS won't be opening this show either, according to their website. But since this SP show was just announced, maybe they just haven't announced it yet.

spidersoma 09-22-2007 07:03 PM

i'm debating. i'm from austin, but i currently live in dallas. i have pit tickets to it. so ... drive to austin? i simply think one show is enough.

so the show's at 8, i guess that means doors around 7 or so. how early do you guys think you need to show up and get in line?

i fly into DFW friday morning and the plan is to head to austin by 1:30pm. whether or not we get in line right at 4:30pm remains to be seen...i guess we'll see what the situation is, if anyone is meeting up for drinks beforehand, etc.

Nope. I went to high school in Carrollton.

aldango 09-23-2007 03:19 PM

Just received an email reply from EITS that they will not be opening this show.

Bummer. No openers in Austin and Dallas?!

im up for bewz

Brute Squad 10-22-2007 02:04 AM

Already asked for half the day off from work. I work on south mopac, but honestly have no idea where to get together for drinks. the spec's parking lot?

TuralyonW3 10-22-2007 02:07 AM

I'll probably just be getting there really early with some water and snacks to hold my place in line

aldango 10-22-2007 11:23 AM

I have two tickets for sale, btw.

SlingeroGuitaro 10-22-2007 07:28 PM

i think i'm bringing beer to drink in the parking lot. if anyone else wants to tailgate, lets party.

Brute Squad 10-22-2007 07:59 PM

The Backyard isn't really suited to tailgating anymore. It used to be a venue in the woods, but now it's surrounded by shopping centers and assorted crap.

SlingeroGuitaro 10-22-2007 08:43 PM

yeah.. you used to be able to buy mushrooms on the hike from the parking to the venue.

still... beer in the parking lot

I've been wondering the same thing, haven't heard anything from anyone and haven't seen anything posted about openers for either shows. So... hurry up and wait. :]

davin 10-23-2007 11:58 AM

can't wait for these texas shows. epscially with the setlists still changing.

so am i correct in my thinking that the backyard is a large GA area vs. the Dallas show which is just a small GA pit up front?

it's settled then. beer in the parking lot.

davin 10-23-2007 12:07 PM

kewl. so sounds like it makes sense to show up earlier for Austin, since Dallas is pretty small to begin with and inherently will be a good spot (like the Indiana show I went to...or the seated pit @ Normal).

so Andrew -- are you going to both? i plan on wearing my big lebowski shirt for 1 of the days, in honor of you. hopefully the laundry gods will allow it.

skipgo 10-23-2007 01:09 PM

i'm still so bummed i can't get the day off for this show. It's been a long time since I got to see two shows on consecutive nights.

That's kinda weird dude.

davin 10-23-2007 07:23 PM

lol, relax man....i was kidding. it'd just be for identification purposes anyway.

beer and :smoke: in the parking lot sounds good. we will be there by 4:30pm or so.
