Notes: First time I saw SP live (from left side). Og was 'within spitting distance' (as he explained it), many thanks to him for this DVD and originally introducing me to live aud and vid recordings.
it comes with this screenshot: vlcsnap-1455-05-10-00h23m28s206.jpg

Thank you! Exactly what I needed. Looks like my video is an upgrade to this source.

Cool As Ice Cream 04-19-2020 11:24 AM

ah, cool.
thought you might have needed more info or screenshots, but if this is enough, that's even better.

Gonna use this thread to request help for comparing new tapes and sources. Does anyone have these circulating videos handy. I may have some upgrades.

I've never quite understood why there hasn't been a similar concerted effort to get the video content on Archive.org.

The taping policy extends to video content too:
Quote:

Smashing Pumpkins Taping Policy
June 2007
"a clear declaration of our new open-source taping policy...everyone is welcome to tape at our shows in whatever capacity they see fit...anyone is welcome and invited to document using audio, video, or picture cameras (cell phones are welcome)...although we do reserve the right to refuse anyone at anytime (especially if we feel the reason for recording is not for entirely altruistic)"
Presumably this means we could coordinate archival of this content on the Internet Archive too?

Ram27 11-02-2020 10:40 AM

oh god, that would be amazing.

also now i'm paranoid about corgan randomly starting to crack down on fan bootlegs...doesn't want us living in the pass

Thank you! If you get a chance, can you upload these somewhere? I can possibly even give you a dropbox link to upload to if you need it.

The circulating video of 1994-03-24 is an unknown gen VHS just copied into a unnamed DVD recorder. The transfer was done by a ZOMB member going by the name xdarcyx.

Here's the first 5 mins to get an idea of quality: https://we.tl/t-fH7S0xc93H

Perfect!

I received a tape of 1996-01-02 Toronto AMT1.

In comparison, it's a slight video upgrade. Also fixes slowdown and digital error issues on current.

But it has very bright red stage lights, versus parts in the current DVD with almost black and white sections.

Was color correction done on old transfer? Or was the equipment malfunctioning? I tend to trust my setup over the likely standalone old transfer, but this seems very odd.

If not, I have the DVD from this video ^

marrs-guitar 11-16-2020 07:37 AM

The Toronto show was transferred by the same person who did the DVD of 1994-03-24 and was the same procedure: An unknown gen VHS via a standalone DVD recorder. No additional editing would have been done imo.

Interesting. Must have been a bad tape or some kind of issue with the standalone transfer, very weird.

Anyone have reading 92 AMT shot on tape? I just got a copy. SPLRA says it's not circulating. But my copy is pretty rough. Have to imagine there's better out there.

NickS 01-11-2021 06:51 PM

Anything new i'll be posting in this thread

NickS 01-11-2021 06:54 PM

1996-01-30 AMT1 just went out. This was only circulating in small pieces. This new release trumps both AMT1 split sources including the Vieuphoria 2 fan comp
