Trotskilicious 03-02-2012 02:45 AM

man i love to smoke

reprise85 03-02-2012 02:46 AM

i pretty much feel like i never smoked, yeah. my lungs feel clearer, less wheezing (i have asthma)

Travis Meeks 03-02-2012 05:48 PM

Since quitting I feel like I am getting less headaches, feel less dehydrated (hard to explain), enjoy knowing that I don't stink in corporate settings, and have noticed slightly better breathing. As a smoker, if I take a really fast and deep breath I'll cough a little but now I don't have that problem and deep breaths feel better. In two months I'll have a pulmonary lung function test as part of a physical for work so I'm anxious to see how my results compare to previous years.

When I first quit my digestion went totally crazy...some constipation, sour stomach all the time, and horrific smelling gas (but somewhat enjoyable at the same time of course). Anyone else have these issues?

reprise85 03-02-2012 07:05 PM

I didn't. How long did those symptoms last?

My breathing is definitely better, my sense of smell works again and it is very nice to know I don't smell like cigarettes.

edit: i have stomach problems fairly regularly so it's possible withdrawal did cause some and I just didn't connect it.

yo soy el mejor 03-03-2012 04:28 AM

something over one month now except for the one cigarette i smoked on february 11th. that's no big deal.

reprise85 03-05-2012 06:12 PM

i so was tempted today to buy a pack, so so tempted...

will not.

Trotskilicious 03-05-2012 07:58 PM

i'm going to have a cigarette right now

SuckSuckStyle 03-05-2012 08:00 PM

over a month. holler.

kelsome 03-05-2012 08:02 PM

null123 03-05-2012 08:05 PM

SuckSuckStyle 03-05-2012 08:16 PM

great, now i want to get into meth

Eulogy 03-22-2012 04:37 PM

so i haven't been able to get over the hurdle

i haven't gone more than two days without one. and i'm still smoking when drinking.

i just broke down and ordered an e-cig starter kit. even when i had a crappy disposable one it helped... so i'm hoping this will be enough to get me to stop for good. not the cheapest thing in the world, but what can you do. if it works it'll pay for itself in.... i dunno a few months.

Travis Meeks 03-22-2012 05:02 PM

52 days clean (accidentally smoked two cigarettes though)
cigs not smoked: 1,041
$ saved: $417

Still tough but getting there and I am weaning myself off Nicoderm patches. I will not consider this a success until day 100.

SuckSuckStyle 03-22-2012 05:10 PM

^ right on.

i'm closing in on two months. i miss the act of smoking but the thought/smell grosses me out now.

E- have you tried gum? it's not a miracle worker or anything but i have used it in the past and it does help take the edge off.

reprise85 03-22-2012 05:14 PM

no cigs since 12/30/11 here, no patches gum etc

GL everyone and congrats SSS

ive used the gum before too and it works ok

i haven't. but i still really enjoy the throat hit. and the gum really isn't much cheaper (if at all) than the e-cig stuff. so i went that route instead.

Eulogy 03-22-2012 05:19 PM

also i've been smoking pretty regularly for... almost 7 years now (fuck how did that happen), and i have never understood how smoking a pack a day works.

i smoked a pack in one day one time. high school senior year spring break in ft. myers. and i was drunk all day.

sppunk 03-22-2012 05:21 PM

Eulogy if you smoke in front of me prepare for a punch in the face.

SuckSuckStyle 03-22-2012 05:28 PM

gotcha.

yeah the gum wont give you that throat hit, just curbs the craving.

yes because it's really smart to shit on people who are finally taking active steps to quit

mercurial 03-23-2012 01:13 AM

i quit cold turkey in Feb 2009 and haven't smoked since.
it's fucking hard but it's not impossible. if you really want it, you must will yourself to do it.

yeah but that doesn't mean it's not an asshole thing to say

Travis Meeks 03-23-2012 03:51 PM

sppunk, just shoot a load into the back of his throat whenever he gets a craving

sppunk 03-23-2012 04:04 PM

Well he gets the opportunity to meet me tomorrow, so we'll see what unfolds.

aztec litany service 03-24-2012 07:58 PM

been smoking since 2001, heavily since 05, tried to stop several times, and i'm trying to quit as of a few mins ago lol...we'll see how that goes. i can't do the gum thing [tho i do have some] it just makes me insane and want to smoke even more.

i'm drinking a big ass glass of hot water, i think it's helping a bit.

reprise85 03-24-2012 11:30 PM

GL :)

Eulogy 04-05-2012 09:00 PM

so the e-cig kit came on march 27. last cig was march 26. on most days i'll take a few drags on the e-cig and nothing more. if i'm drinking it'll probably be closer to the equivalent of a couple cigarettes. the best thing is that i can just take a couple drags and stop. with a real cig i'd feel like i had to finish the whole thing.

this has been incredibly easy so far. i'm still hacking up stuff when i wake up. but i'm hoping that subsides eventually. i made a mistake getting the variety pack of flavors, because the chocolate, vanilla, and cherry ones are all awful. menthol is ok. tobacco is surprisingly pleasant.

Trotskilicious 04-05-2012 09:01 PM

I HAVE TO QUIT AND I HATE IT AND YOU AND EVERYTHING

Trotskilicious 04-05-2012 09:01 PM

EVERYTHING

MusicMan4 04-05-2012 09:04 PM

bout to light up again in 10 minutes or so
however long it takes me to finish this rum & diet
or i could just chug it so i can smoke sooner

Eulogy 04-05-2012 09:08 PM

i'm telling you guys

e-cigs are lame and gimmicky but the shit fucking works. i mean i didn't try until i'd already gotten down to 0-5/day. and i was never a pack/day guy, so maybe they work for light smokers but not heavy ones. i dunno.

Eulogy 04-05-2012 09:08 PM

i haven't gone this long without smoking since my 18th birthday.

reprise85 04-05-2012 09:17 PM

cool, good job. glad it's been easy. :)

Eulogy 04-05-2012 09:20 PM

thanks!

i have had trouble sleeping lately though. i'm wondering if that might have anything to do with anything. but i'm still taking in some nicotine so i dunno.

Dogfighter28 04-05-2012 09:22 PM

i think im gonna stop smoking, that girl i went on a date with smoked unfiltereds and it made my lungs shit after a bummed a couple

also i got friend zoned so that makes me not want to smoke anymore in and of itself

Eulogy 04-05-2012 09:23 PM

a couple times back in high school, i bought a pack of kamel reds knowing how awful i'd feel and thinking that it would make me wanna quit

lol
