have we discussed the liner notes and terrible album art yet?
or was that already covered when these pics leaked a few months ago?
this is something an 8th grader would put together if asked to a photography series on the current state of media. i was just like 'oh jeez' until i got to the end and read "Photography: Billy Corgan". i laughed. then i cried. also it wasn't until "Special thanks to God, Jesus Christ" that I started to regret my purchase. |
can someone post it or are we all in fear of the band now
|
also is that supposed to be james and darcy in the coffin?
|
Yeah the album art is weaksauce. Its a depressing contrast when you look at Mellon Collie - it was the total package. Great cover art, nice booklets, and most importantly, solid tunes.

I liked Adore's lyric arrangement. Mellon Collie had great album art and the lyric book was no-nonsense goodness.
Zeitgeist tries too hard to be relevant, but it's endearing. Kind of. |
does anyone have pics of the linear notes and album art?
|
did anyone ever figure out why Paris Hilton is on the Tarantula single and in the album artwork???? And is that something she signed up for or did they just find a couple random shots of her and put them in the artwork?
|
Everyone has figured that out except you.

I like the liner notes. I like that BC thanked God. It was worth every bit to buy the album to read that. Despite all of the weirdness... there is a really precious part of BC that I'll always love.
I was a little disturbed by the SP in the coffin and the coffin images... hmmm |
It seemed to me that they are trying a bit too hard with Zeitgeist. Hopefully they will look back to MCIS and not go so over the top.

I dont think Paris was being used as a good thing in there though...maybe as an example of the oddness of what's going on here in American philosophy .... i feel bad for her.
|
I love the art, and I love that Billy thanks his God. Who cares? I think it's ridiculous that you can't accept someone else's faith. he's not saying "You must believe in God!"
Gosh, people like you really get under my skin <_< |
SHUT UP JULIO

Old SP is dead, BC and the crew are the reincarnated ghosts of the Pumpkins, thus the new logo, they wear white and talk about "ghosts", "god", etc. Duh...

you can very clearly see one of the ken dolls is bald, and one of the four is a blond barbie. BET YOU WISH YOU COULD DIG THAT COFFIN UP NOW, DONTCHA CORGAN? |
I wouldn't dismiss artwork just because you don't understand it, Julio.
|
^ LOL!
|
what's to understand, i don't understand homosexuality, but it's still gay... the booklet is retarded.
|
I heard somewhere that the album artwork is supposed to be a concept towards the seven deadly sins...
Paris Hilton = Lust |
The pornstar is hotter than Paris Hilton.
|
if nothing else.. the pics of jimmy and billy on the see-thru pages are really cool.
|
At first I was a little dismayed... the photographs are actually mildly interesting. I do like how the overall look (minus the cover) that was achieved consistently. Remove the SP flag and a couple of other things, I believe there to be a fairly strong conceptual foundation. Watching Bravo! today it somewhat reminded me of the album artwork, seeing a preview of the Paula Abdul show really had some odd parallel. She's practically Anna Nicole Smith II, one foot in broadcast and the other foot in a shallow grave filled with perscription pills and Doritos. Just made me feel some sort of reflection that tied to the Zeitgeist artwork. However the cover seems so last minute, so unconnected to the rest of the imagery that it detracts from both monumentally. That will be the extent of me defending Zeitgeist though.
