Bush are reforming

This is getting ridiculous

slunken 06-25-2010 09:12 AM

FUCK. YES.

Order 66 06-25-2010 01:18 PM

They were grunge bandwagoners. but despite that hey had some genuinelly good songs. the other day I dug up The Science of Things (or whatever that was called) and was surprised how good it was

Catherine Wheel 06-25-2010 03:02 PM

I agree. The Science of Things is a good album. There are parts of Razorblade Suitcase that I like too.

fromcityskyline 06-25-2010 03:54 PM

heh, I saw Institute once. Gavin Rossdale probably wanted to get the band back together after seeing how people were still excited to hear "Machinehead" but not any original Institute songs.

Probably kind of like how Billy got more of a reaction from playing 3 seconds of "Today" than any songs from his solo project.

Catherine Wheel 06-25-2010 04:17 PM

It's going to be just like SP2. Gavin and the drummer are the only guys left from the 90s. Not as interested since I learned that.

D. 06-25-2010 07:06 PM

razorblade and science are solid albums but who in the world would ever be in the mood to hear that shit ever again?

slunken 06-25-2010 08:16 PM

yea def a deabreaker if nigel isnt involved.

not diggin this new single, sounds like a tune leftover from that godawful solo album

cocksure 06-26-2010 04:05 AM

oh look a thread about a generic 90s rock band

it was always kind of amusing to me that the members of bush were honestly pretty untalented as far as musicianship goes, but somehow they were able to write catchy songs

also, with no other band will you find the lyric "and i'm screaming daisies from fourteen miles away"

Kahlo 06-26-2010 07:49 AM

Listening to Golden State - has some pretty good songs. Bush are nothing special, but they make some pretty competent MOR pop rock.

reprise85 06-26-2010 12:55 PM

I only ever listened to Sixteen Stone, and I remember it being laughably bad. The lyrics were probably the worst thing about it. I will admit they have some catchy songs, but I don't care if I ever hear them again.

slunken 06-26-2010 10:23 PM

I dunno - I've always felt like Bush were such a rip-off band that they had to try extra-hard or go out of their way to try and be different. The songs are pretty generic - yet catchy - and I've always mostly enjoyed the lyrics.

I mean - a proper Englishman trying to do grunge songs/lyrics - what's not to like? He drinks red wine and reads Rimbaud you know...

My current favorite hook is "DEAF AND DUMB WITH THE LIGHTS ON!"

slunken 06-29-2010 04:56 PM

Good Lord the chorus of this song is awful. The verse sounds Insect Kin.

Everyone's cashin' in this decade it seems

THE 90's ARE DEAD

Gish08 06-29-2010 06:03 PM

this song sucks ass

Catherine Wheel 06-29-2010 07:47 PM

There are some songs on Sixteen Stone that kind of sound British to me. Like the guitars at the beginning of Comedown. Or the track Alien which kind of sounds like dream pop / shoegaze at times.

Catherine Wheel 06-30-2010 12:07 AM

Also I think the video for Letting The Cables Sleep is as beautiful as the videos for 33 and Stand Inside Your Love

pale_princess 07-01-2010 04:18 PM

i love that when i was a teenager i was like "omg bush has like the stupidest lyrix" but i thought tori amos was some kind of genius. hah!

yoshinobu's revenge 07-01-2010 10:32 PM

i still like some of the riffage in machinehead

LunchWithBilly 07-02-2010 02:45 PM

I'm actually happy to hear this.. I loved the first 3 albums Bush put out but then I quickly lost interest. The solo album made me cringe, much like this new song from them called "Afterlife".. I really hope to rest of the album turns out to be okay..

Skradgee 07-05-2010 09:28 AM

Deconstructed is the best Bush album.
