reading Homo Deus (Yuval Noah Harari) at the moment. have always had loose, undefined goals that 'i want to read more'.

this time around i said i want to read at least a book a month, so once i pick a book, i determine how many pages i need to average each day to complete it in the month, and give it a go. so far so good

i just finished this one

a friend recommended it a few years ago, finally got around to reading it. really loved it.

anyone here read it? would make an excellent movie

ah perfect, yes that's a russian army coat he's wearing. highly recommend, it's a cool book, reads real fast too

the diary of a young girl

for unknown reasons, i didn't read this in 8th grade, or whenever it was that everyone else generally seems to have read it in their lives

i don't seem to be capable of saying anything about it that doesn't come off as trite

Really enjoyed this. "Strange stories" as the author calls them, not horror exactly, just stories filled with a sort of dreamlike dread, impeccably written. If anyone ever listens to The Magnus Archives podcast, some of the stories in here reminded me so much of it that I think Aickman had to have been a major influence on it.

i just stand in front of my bookcase and stare. i have no idea what i want to read. sometimes when i am working on other stuff, i want to read a science book.
