as for it being a grower, i liked it on first listen tbh - though i think Deftones as an "entity" are a bit of grower (upon which, after you get into 'em, most of their material is fairly instant)

Diamond Eyes was the last one that I really loved through and through. KNY is okay.

Gore is the Zeitgeist of Deftones albums. There are a few songs to enjoy, but not enough to make up for the rest of it.

anyway the couple of songs we've gotten so far are much more like Gore tracks in terms of songwriting, just have the stronger sound of something like KNY (tho yes, i know Terry Date is the one producing but it still sounds more KNY than Pony or s/t) so i dunno what you dufuses are on about!

I thought Gore was great. I like the more shoegaze influence at times on that album. My hot take: White Pony actually has a few filler songs on it. Not as solid as Around the Fur which is Siamese Dream level perfect.

Headup blows & there are maybe 1 or 2 others i could live without but i will concede that album is pretty damn good
