Why are his kids on the stage??

Forgotten Child 11-28-2022 06:46 AM

"That's what we call smoke and mirrors. You focus on the kids and forget (...)".

He's voice is gone. It was recorded last Tuesday as far as I know, he was still recovering from the flu.

TheAlter 11-28-2022 07:03 AM

Bringing his kids onstage all the time is absurd.

That massive unwanted attention will turn them into unsufferable attention-seeking narcissists.

smh

MyKeyZ 11-28-2022 10:24 AM

Some would say the de-evolution of The Smashing Pumpkins

T&T 11-28-2022 10:30 AM

it's no different than clowns on stage.

Ram27 11-28-2022 09:46 PM

very cool set, shame it's not really worth listening cause his voice is so fucked

It’s funny, i had a similar reaction like oh wow this probably isn’t great for their brains etc.

Then my wife independently was like wtf why does Billy have his kids onstage all the time (she follows the instagram or hobnob or tikblood or whatever the fuck) and i was like yeah isn’t it sort of worrisome for like their brians, and she was like no i mean it’s just who gives a shit i don’t want to see his kids

Lol

CYR sounds like complete garbage even acoustic.. and the transition to a GREAT all-time classic song like Tonight, Tonight really contrasts how shitty CYR is compared to Tonight

Corgan didn't create those clowns of his own "Corgan batter" (to my knowledge)

90s Bill could have sold it, the songs didn't have to be masterpieces for them to make 'em sound great

I can barely even listen to the classics with this current, uh, "approach"

Ram27 11-29-2022 12:37 AM

yeah, it's objectively foul to listen to

really don't understand how even SMs get thru it

Ram27 11-29-2022 12:45 AM

he's creating his own james with auggie jupp

paranoid 11-29-2022 01:24 AM

Wow. Great point. Yeah, at one point stuff just stopped sounding great, even in promising compositions, there is always some caveat with post 2000 stuff where it’s “well this really rocks — if u ignore the bored terribly up front vocal” “it’s an awesome song it’s just brickwalled to F and sounds nothing like an actual band” etc etc

Shouldn’t have to caveat your music. Should just flow in thru and out u

there's some moments. I think mary star the song is a good example of a song that had that perfect flow.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, I think, that you don't throw your little kids into the industrial entertainment mangle-machine if you can help it. I don't believe it takes personal, much less exemplary, parenting experience and skill to recognize this, just as I don't need a baby to know you aren't supposed to shake them or store your loaded, unlocked guns in their playroom.

I don't think this is on the level of Billy becoming a pageant mom or trying to get Hollywood producers interested in casting his tykes or something; to me this is more like a guy who does "Take Your Kid to Work Day" and then for some reason just keeps doing it. It's weird. It's just weird. To me.

i think nothing of it. i'm sure he's aware of he dangers, but feels safe enough letting his kids participate in some of what he does.

it's certainly not an experience most families have, having a famous parent, so it's hard to say if it's a good or bad thing.

would i do it myself? i dunno. i don't have kids. and I'm not famous.

houseofglass11 11-29-2022 03:49 PM

The guy is such a workaholic that it makes sense that probably some of the only time he has to see them overlaps with band stuff. This is a guy who went on a thirty day tour of the US when Auggie Joop was only a few months old.

T&T 11-29-2022 04:36 PM

Billy probably thinks he knows how to do it the RIGHT way, to avoid all the negative dangers.
riiiiiiight. a-huh..

They came up on stage to sing and dance. It's not like Augustus is gonna be the next Justin Bieber. Relax.

Yeah, but dickheads are making fun of him on the biggest most relevant fansite around, they even call him Auggie Joop which is just a hop scotch and a jump from Froggy Poop, which could become a schoolyard taunt

houseofglass11 11-29-2022 05:14 PM

Where? His kids are adorable.

Dunno im sure one of these dicks has or will if they haven’t, like this is a bit of a sort of a ahem a special fanbase, here

topleybird 11-29-2022 05:42 PM

I'm not calling social services on the guy, it's just not the route I would go if a series of extraordinarily unlikely things happened and I were suddenly in his position. I have a number of friends who don't show their kids in their public social media accounts, and I get that. The internet is forever! I don't think my friends who do post their kids are wrong, or that their kids are gonna be snorting coke at 12 because there are pictures of six-year-old them on a pony on Facebook or something. It's all okay with me. Having his kids on stage a lot is okay with me. But I reserve the right to think it's weird.

Actually took me until my third kid to learn this, tbh.

topleybird 11-29-2022 06:02 PM

Hey. Lots of different learning styles out there. We all have a different pace.

Rairun 11-29-2022 06:04 PM

I think it's okay for the kids to be there if they are curious, etc. It looked like they just wanted to be around their dad. The one bit I found uncomfortable was when Billy pressured Auggy Jupe to dance. The kid was shy and didn't look like he wanted to, but he was bribed into ignoring his boundaries with the promise of hot wheels, for no good reason at all.
